Typical K&N quality
I do not think K&N filters are the end all for vehicle intake filtration. You must take steps to maintain your filter, otherwise, you will experience performance and / or mechanical issues.That said, I'm nitpicky about cleaning and oiling these things. They will last a very long time if you maintain them properly and your vehicle will thank you for it.I wanted this one because of the upward angle on the mounting side that allowed it to fit under my hood much better than its predacessor.

Stealth Cold air intake: Easy, affordable mod for my 2002 Mini Cooper S (R53).
Along with the 3D printed adapter this is a very easy mod.After long term use the friction fit adapter can slip from the housing. A simple fix is to install one small screw into it

It's a good filter and there is lot's of noise.
Used this to modify my stock airbox in a 2006 Mini Cooper S (R53) into a style known as a "DaveF Airbox"Engine seems to breathe better combined with my upgraded supercharger and I can definitely hear more supercharger whine, if there are no performance benefits it's worth it just to hear your engine better!
