Woodstock D2671 8-Ounce Cross Peen Hammer-Hickory

I have been looking for a warren style hammer. This is not the same as the real thing but close enough for what I want. I wanted this as a plane adjusting hammer in the vein of Paul Sellars. This fits the bill and I don't have to try to kype the end of an ebay listing or search all the antique stores. For what I want this for a hammer made in China is perfect. It will never see the abuse my other hammers do so as long as it doesn't just fall apart its perfect. About the hammer specifically, It has a hickory handle and for some reason mine has a cut in the side. No big deal as its only a shallow scrape but the finish is removed so there is that. The head is coated in a thick shiny epoxy like coating. I am not sure of the longevity of the coating if I hit metal but again its a hammer. The head appears epoxied in and is colored black to match the hammer so it looks seamless. Hope this helps anyone who needs it!

Great warrington pattern cross peen hammer. I have both the 4 and 8oz. My only complaint is the heavy plasticy finish the whole thing is dipped in. It looks and feels much better with the paint and finish stripped off

It's a hammer. It works. It's inexpensive, so I didn't expect it to be pretty. It isn't. FOR THE PRICE, it gets 5 stars.

I had to fix this right out of the box - handle was loose - poor fit and wedges to hold the handle into the head are cheap a cheap little circle of soft metal. Requires a fair amount of work to make right

Nice balance and control. Rebounds nicely.It has been good for shaping brass and light metals.I wrapped and stitched boot leather around the handlejust under the head -- my invention of a "bumper" to protectthe handle from missing the head but hitting the handle.Don't ask me how I thought to invent that leather collarfor a hammer... I bought this hammer for metalworking and inspected it closely as soon as it came in.Great balance, good attachment, the right size for what I need, all around good for the price.The only flaw was the face of the hammer. I wasn't expecting a mirror polish but there are some minor pits on the face.Cleaned up in a couple minutes with sandpaper, but cost the hammer a star.

This hammer has a nice handle. The head is on the light side, but the cross peen is perfect for hammering small brads. The rounded point goes right between your thumb and index finger without pinching them against the head of the brad.
