Great charger!! (Oct. 2019, RIP Charger)
This is replacing a very loud, 4 battery charger. It too can charge 1 battery at a time (which is good, and not common) but has a cooling fan that's horribly loud. This EBL is awesome! It's well made, can charge 1 battery at time or many, AA and AAA together and it's silent! No heat problems or sound, just a great well made charger. The only things I'd like to change about it is a slightly longer power cord (very minor issue) and the display. As 1 review mentioned, it's at an odd angle. It's an LCD that's set to be clearly visible with the charger laying flat and being looked at from an angle. In most cases, a battery charger won't be sitting where you'll look straight down on it, it'll be pushed back out of the way, but you do need to be looking at an angle to see the progress of charging. I'd considered mounting it somehow (not sure that's feasible anyway) but the I would not be able to read the display looking straight at it, or from the other angle. Don't let that dissuade you, it's not as big of an issue as I may have made it sound. It's not a monitor, it's a battery charger, and it's a great one.UPDATE: Oct. 2019 It's been about 3 years and it's done. Not sure what or why, but it's just dead. It "was" a great charger to keep batteries ready, different sizes, even 9v batteries worked great. Not sure what I'll try next, or try this again, but I'd sure like to feel confident whatever it is will last. Bumped down from 5 stars to 3 stars.

The batteries fit easily into the slots but removal requires two hands
Item arrived in undamaged condition with all battery ports in working order. The batteries fit easily into the slots but removal requires two hands, pulling back the terminal and then removing the battery with the other hand. This may be difficult for someone who has arthritis but otherwise, isn't too much of a hassle. The only way to illuminate the screen that alerts you to the charge level of each battery is to manipulate one of the charge ports. It would be difficult to properly see the amount of charge of each battery in low light. The 9 volt does have a display light that turns green when charged, which would have been a nice feature if done for each battery port.I was very pleased with the safety feature of the charging station switching over to trickle when the battery is fully charged, which protects the battery and its life span. I use the EBL brand batteries in the charging station and have had no issues. The intelligent controls of the charging station are definitely a plus, even alerting the user if a battery is unable to hold a proper charge.Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. It has been extremely useful and cost saving. The small operational flaws such as the poor lighting on the display are far outweighed by the items functionality. I would definitely buy this item again.Update 7/1/20:The charging station is still working perfectly and I use this every day to charge batteries from a trail cam. The EBL batteries have finally started showing signs of wear as one or two have finally died for good. Overall I am extremely impressed with this brand. I have worked the charger and batteries hard and they have never disappointed. Hope this helps!

Charges pretty well & 12 bays is good but spring-loaded tabs are hard to use
I needed to recharge 10 cells at a time and this device seemed to fit the bill. The display is bright and clear, and it certainly does accommodate 10 AA cells (or AAA). It also can recharge 2 x 9-volt NiMH but honestly I have no use for that feature. Nice to have for the future, I guess. The main issue is the peculiar spring-loaded mechanism which is difficult to use. I'm pretty mechanically minded, and I find the springs a bit stubborn. You have to push them exactly right, or else friction prevents them moving. The best way seems to be to pull the tab back with one hand while inserting a battery with the other. Slow and tedious. Then, to remove the batteries can be a hassle; it's hard to free them up because the tabs are quite tight. I would call this a poor design decision.I have charged various brands of AA and AAA batteries with this charger, and it does work well. The AC converter circuitry is internal to the device, so no external adapter is needed; it uses a simple Sony-style appliance AC cable. I just leave it plugged in all the time and it appears not to draw current, or draws trivial amounts of current, until batteries are inserted.Since the charger works otherwise, I'll keep using it until it dies. But it's an annoyance so I take off one star. The charging feature and display are nice, however, once you get past the hassles of the spring-loaded battery holder.
