Good Investment
So my husband has had this phone for about 2 weeks now and he made is first fishing trip with it. And let me tell you, I was so happy being able to talk to him while he's out in the ocean. Usually I would go 7 to 10 days without contact with him while he's out fishing.

Like stepping into a time warp
This is very expensive thirty-year-old technology. It’s slow, dated, clunky and awful, like the worst flip phone you ever owned, if you’re old enough to remember those. The idea that my life might depend on it in an emergency is terrifying, since sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve had the phone for a week and have made and received a few test calls, most of which worked OK, with reasonable voice quality. Unfortunately I haven’t had similar luck with SMS, or email, or voicemail, and I have no idea why. If you enjoy having to enter 19 digits just to retrieve your voicemail, you’re gonna love this phone! Warning: If you buy an airtime plan that includes a U.S. number, don’t expect that whoever you call will actually get that U.S. number unless you tell it to them; instead they’ll get the phone’s hyper-expensive-to-call international number.

Traded in my Globalstar Qualcomm phone for a SatPhoneStar Iridium sat phone
Service from iridium satellites are much quicker to connect and have clearer vocal communications. Service from SatPhoneStore much superior. Got a prepaid card account with six months usage. Cost is now about a half of what I was charged with Globalstar.
