The best walking stick around!
I bought this stick because I was having difficulty getting down stairs, and a regular sized cane wasn't cutting it. Since the stairs are uneven tile, the stair-cane that the physical therapist recommended didn't work either. Enter the Brazos Walking Stick, made in Texas! The stick is a generous height, so you can put the stick down a step or a curb and still have enough length to lean on it. It's not so long that it's unwieldy to store in the house or car! The stick has a very nice, natural look and finish. There's a wrist strap with a leather Brazos logo at the top, and also a small antiqued metal plaque in the side. There is a slip-resistant rubber end cap on the bottom of the stick (i'm sure this is a standard cane size cap). The stick is very sturdy. It's a really great stick when you need a little extra support and balance. I'm sure it would be good for hiking, although I've only used it for urban hiking thus far. I really appreciate that it's made in the USA too. 10/10.

Mother Nature Human Craftsmanship
Never would have though that I'd ever be doing a review on a stick scheezz. First it looks beautiful and superbly finished. I'm amazed that it's thickness is so consistent with the natural little twists and turns it has.the centerlines of the handle area to tip is really close with the top half overall centerline being straight. Bottom half has the slight nature bends but catches itself last 6". It has 15 areas where branches were shaved off. Eyes closed feeling for them I can't detect a difference in smoothness so a fantastic finishing job. While not feeling clunky heavy it is very resilient with just a hair of fast rebound flex one would expect a wooden branch to have. This bad boy is very stout. It will be a pleasure to wander around with on walking trails. And at 58" it has that universal eye catching style extension that in any language says please don't enter my personal comfort zone area as delineated by the pole like object that shall repeatedly be impinging upon your person if to enter the designated perimeter as you will have stepped right into it... so c'mon and be a bro and take a load off dude relax and wouldn't you much rather sleep in your own bed later tonight as I for one sure will be sleeping in mine. Like other reviewers I'm doing (gonna try at least) the paracord wrap up top as well. Want to have a wrist loop incorporated. Should keep me busy who knows how long too ha!. With the aesthetic quality of this hiking staff and being natural maple I can see how having a collection of different styles and wood types can easily happen. And made in the USA!!!

Sturdy and the right height and heft
The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because some of the finish stuck to my hands the first time I used it. Minor annoyance.

Not just for trails in the woods
Just received my walking stick and couldn't be happier. I was just diagnosed with a form of lymphoma and b4 being released from hospital doctors wanted an evaluation from PT as I had thick blood which caused heavy head and a slight to moderate issue with balance. Ok, more than slight i was holding walls to walk to help with balance. I was asked if I would use a walker - short answer "NO", would I use a cane - again "NO". I said I would get a walking stick and so happy it finally arrived. Looks and feels smooth. It is tall 55", yet grip height for me is comfortable. I am 5'2". All this started July 24, 2023 and already had 1 round of chemo with 2nd round today. The bad stuff starts in a month. God willing it ends well. My walking stick will help keep me balanced and was a compromise that PT found acceptable. I must give the doctors and staff at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, Massachusetts my heart felt appreciation for the swift diagnosis and the amazing care I received during my stay. My walking stick will be taking this journey with me and providing me with the support I will continue to need. Not just for trails in the woods, but isles in the hospital, the office and any where else I need to go. Better looking than the alternative.
