Quiet. Works good. Not perfect, but good.
Works good. I bought it based on decibel tests and I'm happy with the sound level. I have a cheap Lasko and the three speeds are loud, louder, and loudest. Now, this Aerospeed is still a cheap fan, basically looks a lot like my Lasko, but the 3 speeds are loud, quiet, and quieter. The switch has very little feedback when you turn it, but it does work, so unless it fails soon, I'm fine with it.The fan is a not the best balanced, so it does vibrate, but it doesn't rattle or make excessive noise from the vibration. The stabilization feet fit, but don't full seat due to the grill design. Still, they work.Fan also arrived with a nice dent in it, but that is not the fan's fault.I give it 5 stars because it meets my requirements and these negatives I listed do not make the fan in any way unsuitable for my use.

I Wish I'd Listened to the Other 1 Star Reviews...
The air this thing puts out on the highest speed is what my last fan put out on the lowest. I read some review about how this one is so powerful they thought it was going to fly away. I turned it on high and thought "... That's it?" There's also scuff marks on it. Not a huge deal, but.. come on, really? And what other reviews praised as "lightweight" I call flimsy and cheap. It falls over without the pegs, and the pegs are poorly designed. They don't even click into place, you just have to sort of slide them under. I'm normally pretty easily pleased, and really not one to leave poor reviews, but this is just cheap junk and if you don't like it there's no free return sticker. You'll pay at least $10 shipping to send it back, so I leave this as fair warning.

Not quite what I expected
This fan is very light weight and thin. It is too light and thin to stand alone, even with the little plastic feet that are provided. It is too small to stand on the floor and move air through a room effectively. It works well in a window however because it is so thin. Fits in my sliding/side to side window very well and effectively moves air in that position. Also very quiet.

Liked it a lot but...
I bought this fan a week ago after buying (and returning) some window fans that didn't work out so well. I chose this fan specifically because it's supposed to be one of the quietest box fans you can buy and was recommended on a lot of "best" lists. It IS pretty quiet for a box fan. It's loud on High (as loud as my sleep machine Marpac Dohm Classic White Noise Sound Machine, White, so it's perfect if you like white noise) but you could still easily carry on a conversation or watch TV with it on medium or low. It also generated a strong enough airflow to satisfy me and it's stable enough to use on the ground even without the feet (carpet or otherwise).I really loved it until I woke up in the middle of the night to the smell of burning plastic. I didn't see it smoking or anything but it was pretty alarming so I turned it off. I tested it out again the next day (I was hoping I had imagined the smell or something) but after a few hours it started making weird rattling noises and smelling like burned plastic again so I had to return it.I don't see anyone complaining about anything similar happening to them with this fan though (other stuff maybe, but not fire hazards or burning plastic), so I definitely got one of the lemons. I still liked this fan so much that I would have gotten another of the same model to replace it if I had been able to find it being sold anywhere nearby. No such luck though. This occurred during a bad heatwave so I had to run out and buy one of those horrible $16 Lasko box fans (this is seriously the ONLY box fan I could find being sold nearby and I think it must be one of the worst ones). I kinda wish I'd just waited a few days and ordered another Aerospeed. The Lasko blows a tad stronger on high but it's way less stable (can't use it without the feet which I will no doubt lose within days) and it's incredibly loud! It sounds like a freaking lawnmower at every speed--:(

chicago box fans
I vowed never to buy another lasko box fan so I was thrilled to find these fans. They were a bitter disappointment. They have the same flimsy construction as lasko but cost considerably more. I can blow harder than these fans and I am 69.Lasko has bought up most box fan makers. I don't think that there is a decent box fan left out there. Lasko used to be a great fan for a great price. I just retired an 8 year old lasko that I ran 24-7 from april to november. The last ones I bought lasted one season.I am replacing my box fans with pedestal fans. I bought a 16" Honeywell pedestal fan 2 months ago. It is super quiet, has 5 speeds, and a remote that even I can understand. Simple to assemble too. Tim Cota

Very good box fan for the price
I needed something to stave off the heat and found this thing, for $20 you dont expect too much but this thing delivered more than I expected. It has decent airflow, more than enough to keep you decently comfortable when its hot, but I doubt it will be enough if its very humid as well. The bad thing about the fan is the plastic foot pegs that come with it. They are a joke, I tried to put them on and had them snap in the process... though its not like its necessary for the fan in the first place, even on high, it wont produce enough force to fall over, unless you have it on an uneven surface. For $20, its the best box fan I know of and will keep you comfortable on a hot day as long as it is not super humid.
