Pencil Only for this book.
On the very last page of the my new Moleskine Plain page Expanded edition, I tested my various fountain pens for ghosting and bleed-thru. Every signle one, even the extra fine point pens, failed the test, but I'm not surprised. Molelskine had to thin the pages down to fit 400 of them into a single notebook, and thin paper in any notebook can be a challenge for anyone who loves writing with fountain pens. That being said, I am extremely pleased with my new notebook. I love writing in pencil, too, which can be every bit as archival as ink. The paper in this expanded edition seems to LOVE pencil, and I certainly adore the ease of use of pencils. Refills are effortless (zero waste), no cleaning needed, they're erasable, and I can draw and sketch with them. If you're an avid "penciller" like I am, you're going to love the paper in this book. The paper has an ultra-smooth baby's butt finish which attracts graphite like a magnet, making writing and sketching effortless with pencil.Additionally, the book fit perfectly into my leather Robrasim Moleskine cover, despite being slightly thicker than the standard sized Moleskine. For that I'm also very well pleased with this expanded edition of the Moleskine Plain Page notebook.Just a quick bit of advice for Amazon. Dudes, you need to ship these beautiful books in packaging other than a plastic bag which can subject them to extreme damage during shipment. I held my breath when I opened the envelope, expecting to see a battle scarred notebook with a split binding. Fortunately, it arrived unscathed, but wow...you took a chance sending it in a plastic bag envelope with no padding.

BuJo for the whole year in one book!
I started a BuJo in November 2020 (in a Walmart Exceed dot journal) to track all sorts of things and see if I liked it. Well, I decided I did like it and realized that I was going to run out of room quickly. So I went looking for something with enough pages to get me through the year of tracking and other things I wanted to jot down. I don’t doodle or dress it up with fancy stickers or drawings. I just keep it simple and track things, appointments, notes, ideas, etc. I don’t like my journal cluttered. I like my info easy to see. I keep a lot of information in this and I’m finding it’s such a useful tool keeping it all in one place. This was the one. It’s simple and clean looking and I prefer the size over larger or wider journals. Yes, the pages are a little thinner and there is some ghosting, but I don’t care. It’s a trade I’m willing to make to have one journal going the entire year rather than setting up multiple journals through the year and then having to keep track of all of them after I begin another. I’m someone who tracks and looks back frequently so I want everything in one place. If I finish the year and want to continue I will definitely be getting another.I use Pilot Frixion pens, markers and highlighters as well as Sharpie pens in black.I hope this review was helpful!

This Moleskine notebook took its vitamins!
I was very pleased to find a 400 page Moleskine notebook for a seriously reasonable price. If you're a fan of Moleskine or are curious about them, I encourage you to try this one. There are enough pages to keep all of your notes for one class, or workshop or series together in a professional looking notebook. There's even a pocket in the back for handouts, business cards; anything you want to keep with the notes. The line spacing is perfect. I've always admired Moleskine for their durability. The paper does not tear too easily. It's thick enough for ink or pencil. Drawings are easy with this notebook. I usually use colored pencils and have had no problems with tearing or ink bleedthrough. The notebook is large enough that it won't get lost in your bag or backpack. But it's small enough to fit easily in a tote with plenty of room for other necessities.I've also purchased the 18 month 3x5" soft notebook planner , a set of 3 5x8.25" soft cover notebooks and oneXXL 8.5x11" notebook. All of them have served me well. Even in this electronic age, I prefer to take written notes and Moleskine notebooks and planners are perfect for the task at hand.

Durable Notes
I keep permanent notes in these Moleskin notebooks. I also create drafts of construction projects, ideas for mods, programming notes, in short - if I want to remember something, I write or draw it in these. They are durable and last for many years. The covers do not rip off accidentally when you step or sit on them. You can get them lined or blank, and the paper does not deteriorate for quite a few years.

UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE BUYING!!
I needed ONE journal that would last a whole year full of trackers, planning and ACTUAL journaling, and 400 pages suited that just fine. I bought this product though the feel and construction of it was excellent (I tend to be very rough with my journals - they aren't precious, pretty things). BUT, the paper is extremely thin which leads to extreme bleeding and ghosting depending on the inks you use. So many people insist on using fountain pens to make themselves feel fancy. If you can lower your expectations and use a medium tip ball point pen it works perfectly well. Even certain colored mildliners do fairly well.HOWEVER - it is interesting that this is the second Moleskine expanded that I've bought, and the paper is just the slightest bit thicker than my first. Paper grades are supposed to have a standard but apparently even these can be off on occasion. Still, it's my favorite book to write in!

Worth it!!
I only buy moleskin journals and it is because of the quality!! Love that this is hardcover with extra pages. The inside stitch was slightly loose but nothing that allowed any pages to get detached. Still a moleskin lover without a doubt!
