Improvement over my old DCE33
I needed to replace my old DCE33, which finally quit cooling enough to make ice after possibly 38 yrs of service. This unit looks more refined, and makes 24 cubes/cycle vs. 8 for the old unit. It's also quieter than the old unit, but it does make some sounds when running and pumping, and when dropping ice.I put the unit into service the evening I received it, and it was full of ice by the next morning. The unit makes the same crystal-clear semi-conical ice as did the DCE33. An absolute must for gin and tonic! The unit is covered in gleaming stainless steel, which looks pretty and 'commercial', although I would have been happy with a painted finish.I'm counting on the Scotsman name to insure the availability of replacement parts, as required, to keep this unit in service as long as the old DCE33. This was a concern of mine when looking at some cheaper, foreign-made units.

Durable icemaker but need to know how to install
Was very excited when our icemaker was delivered; however come to find out that Scotsman "approved" repairmen/installers would NOT come out and install due to the fact it was brand new!! They would only come out if it needed a repair and they could file under warranty repair. Luckily my husband is very handy and was able to install himself. I like that it has a venting system at the front versus the back of the machine (less likely to overheat). The ice cubes are AWESOME. A bit noisy, but its an ice maker!!

A lot of Clear Ice, but very loud.
I have had an undercounter ice maker installed in my kitchen since 2016. This one replaced another high dollar brand that kept going out. This ice maker produces a lot of ice, and very quickly. The ice it produces is larger than an average tray ice cube but not overly so. The ice is clear and takes great. It is a VERY loud machine. So purchase it knowing you WILL hear it. We have a TV in the kitchen and have to max out the volume when this ice machine is pumping. We have had it installed for almost a week now, so hoping for the best.

Does not make ice
I purchased this ice maker just over 2 months ago(can not return it now) and just installed it in a new house that I just finished. To my surprise this ice maker was connected exactly as supposed and the green light is on showing that it is making ice. Water runs through but even after a reset it just does not make any ice. Anybody knows why this might be happening, the Manuela says that this can happen because of very cold weather (less than 55 degrees) but our temperature is 80 degrees.

Holding Up Well
We have had this ice maker in place for nearing a year now and it is functioning well. I have a staff of over 30 and they use this ice machine routinely. It is quiet and nice looking. This was cheaper than the flaked ice makers and seemed to be far more reliable according to ratings.

It makes ice. It could be better.
Poor installation design. You have to thread the water supply line from the rear of the ice maker to the front to hook it up to the ice maker. It could have provided easy hook up to the water supply line in the rear where it belongs. The drain line is located in the middle of the bottom of the ice maker which makes it difficult to replace it. There is no interior light when you open the door. The ice cubes are large (about the size of a walnut). It makes a huge crashing noise when it dumps the ice. Likely to wake you up at night if you are asleep. But...it makes ice which is its primary purpose. Other than the above, installation was easy and it started producing ice within 30 minutes.Update: after year three the water valve solenoid malfunctioned and it started to make ice erratically. I found a service manual on line. Scotsman sells the replacement part for close to$300. I found an OEM source at Amazon for $59.00. It’s now working perfectly again. It was a pain in the ass but far cheaper than getting gouged by their authorized dealer and excessively priced replacement parts.

Reliable workhorse.
This machine always has a full bin of ice ready for use. When I first installed it, I could hear the machine running but it produced no ice. I re-read the directions and found a note that one of the parts frequently came out of position during transport and needed to be put back in place. I snapped it in and got the first ice in about 20 minutes. And it hasn't stopped production.

Do NOT buy for residential use!
The media could not be loaded. We absolutely loved this thing for about a year. Makes great cubes, clear, in large quantities. However, when I went to clean it (pretty simple standard process as outlined in the manual), it stopped working. So I called the company and they asked me to work with local distributors for service. I called all 12 and NONE of them would service residential customers! None of them would agree to help. So now I have a $4K brick in my house that’s completely useless.Scotsman won’t help. Local installers won’t help. It’s insane. Do NOT buy this unless it’s for a restaurant. You’ll be throwing money away. I regret buying this; don’t be like me!
