Great addition for my painting
You have to follow the instruction but if you do, it works very well

Rust, the New Green
I bought a dozen metal agave plants to save water. The are manufactured in shinny silver metal. After spraying them with this stuff, bam! They rust right up and within a few days look beautiful. The longer they are exposed to rain the deeper the rust color. Good stuff!

Excellent patina adder for antique repairs
I use this stuff all the time. I do a lot of repairs of old items and I used this stuff to age hardware, nails and screws and hinges.

Fantastic Rust Effects! It works every time and is worth the cost!
I have always enjoyed Modern Masters rust effects, but i find myself running out of the activator. I buy the Modern Masters Kit that comes with a little bottle of activator, but it is never enough to cover everything you can do with two bottles (primer and iron).I needed more activator, and didn't want to buy another kit, so i thought I would try my own with Vinegar, Salt, and Hydrogen Peroxide. That did work, but it isn't as good as the real deal This large bottle of activator just works great, it gives you the deep rust, but also the fine power like rust. I am very frugal, but when you can get consistant quality output that this activator provides, you realize it is worth it.To those that haven't used the activator before, you will first need to have the kit which includes the primer, iron paint, and activator. This big bottle helps out when you use up your little bottle of activator, but still have plenty of paint.I have the best results by letting each of the paint layers completely dry. Then I place the model in a zip lock bag, spray it well with activator, and seal it up for 20 or so minutes. After that, i take it out and let it dry. The longer you let it dry, the more awesome the rust will become.Since it is surface rust, I seal it with a clear coat of matt or gloss UV protectant. Like rustoelum clear topcoat. The pictures you see, the hood and stack are PLA 3d printed, and the machines are Resin 3d printed. Both give amazing results. Thanks, and good luck with your crafting, and modeling!

Product supply issue
Modern Masters makes a great product to achieve a Steampunk rusted look - even on wood. We used it on the stringers of our 24' double-helix staircase. However, Modern Masters seems to have a problem with supply on one essential component of this process: ME208, the iron paint that makes the rusting work. After waiting months and months, after repeated calls, we were able to find a substitute product from Mann Brothers Paints (Metalux Iron Paint and Patina). One other comment: MM recommends sealing the finished product but the sealer darkens the patina and, therefore, changes the look. We opted not to use it but it does leave the finished product vulnerable to scuffing. I have been able to touch it up using a mix of acryllic paint.

Only works with Modern Masters Oxidizing IRON Paint NOT Copper Paint
My only complaint is that this product image with back print on a dark rust label background is not readable in this Amazon product picture. What is says is that this Oxidizing Iron solution works only with the MM Oxidizing Iron Paint not the MM Oxidizing Copper Paint. My wife wanted a rust/ green copper patina look to our flower pots and I mistakenly purchased this product. I have no critique on if this product works since I didn't use it. However, the other MM Copper Oxidizing Paint worked great and I assume this will too with the correct MM Iron Paint. I returned the product with a recommended wording change to the product discription to Amazon and to the seller, but no changes were made. I wrote this review so others wouldn't make the same mistake as I did.

Great but overpriced.
I make signs with a CNC machine so I love the look you get with this product and the paint that goes with it. I give this 4 stars because of the price. You can make this stuff for nothing. I bought the ingredients off of amazon and can make 5 gallons for about $2 . I also make the paint for a fraction of the cost. Why the exorbitant price?

Really looks rusty.
I am using this product on metal so it is all I need to get a rust effect. It doesn't smudge off.
