This is a good simple gumbo base. Flavorful and simple.

The nice thing about getting these packets is that you don’t have to go through a lot of work to get a decent gumbo. Seafood, chicken and okra is what I use. Very tasty!. I usually have a beer with it as well.

I know there are a lot of hard core cooks who insist on making a roux and doing everything from scratch, but this stuff makes good tasting gumbo in a fraction of the time. I've used it several times now and it always results in a great tasting dish with a lot less effort.

Makes very tasty gumbo and since the packages don't include rice, you can store leftover gumbo and eat it without having all the juice soaked up by rice (like Zatarain's).

I was tired of making gumbo from scratch, making the roux was just too much work. I researched the internet and found this base. I just made it tonight and it was great! It was so easy to use. Some reviews said it was too salty, so I used a reduced-sodium chicken broth and added meat and vegetables. It was delicious! Will definitely be using this base from now on.
