Had a lot of damage to electronic items due to lightning, insurance did not pay for all of it. So hopefully, I have learned a lesson. We have installed whole house surge protectors in the breaker panels, also these have been installed at any expensive electronic device, including appliances. I have used Tripp Lite for several years now. I chose this particular model because they accept power cords into the sides, which makes them nice if you are using them behind a piece of furniture. They are designed for travelers, and the plug does retract into the device by means of a sliding apparatus. If your receptacle is new and stiff, you may need to hold the sliding part so that the prongs are extended in order to get it plugged into the receptacle. I did not rate traveling, as I use these only at home.

Nice, compact, at-the-source surge protector. No cord and excess bulk messing up the desktop. I plug in my USB converters, and my extra monitor into this little beast in one room, and my TV and sound bar into another in a separate room. I live in a high lightening storm area, and they have yet to fail, and I have yet to lose a piece of equipment to surge. Note they are a sacrificial item - if spiked, they will fail before passing the spike to your equipment and need replacing. For the cost, it's well worth it. Also, look up the specs and compare to what's out there, in particular the clamp-down voltage. Hard to match the specs, even with far more expensive options.

I have used plenty of the excellent Tripp-Lite Blocks for surge protection over the years. But, not seeing them on the page and needing a few more for odds-and-ends uses. I bought 2 of the Traveler surge protectors. They work great and, furthermore, the distributor of these products for Eaton/Tripp were patient with me as I worked through an issue of registering the Travelers with them. (With the Blocks there was always a demand for registration for the insurance coverage. The Good news is that you no longer need to register your Tripp-Lite products to receive the warrantee in case of failure.)

Was very happy to find this small surge protector. It fits perfectly in the plug I have with a light switch on one side and 2 outlets on other side of fixture.

I was looking around for surge protector that had Ethernet protection since a lightning strike took out my Ethernet connection from cable modem to/and including my wireless router. I read the reviews and was skeptical but taking a chance instead of the more expensive Ethernet-only options. I liked it was a surge protector with Ethernet protection. I was also swayed by the Tripp-Lite name. I tested the Ethernet speed before and after plugging the Ethernet and my 'unofficial' results using a online measurement page is that it increased my download speed by 10-15%!! I was worried it would reduce it. I also plugged in my cable modem and other equipment in. All seems to be working well. It is designed for travel but I'm just using it at home. The "grey" button on top is the slide which retracts or extends the wall plug. Kind of "cheesy" but works. I used the lower wall outlet which this hangs downward but leaves plenty of room to plug in something else in the top outlet. I hope not to have another lightning strike so I hope I don't have to find out how well it protects.

This was a replacement for the same model I'd purchased years ago and was using with a laptop. The ground plug on the old one finally broke. It's sturdy, compact, and it functions well. Has two AC outlets plus modem and phone line jacks. Good price. Received quickly and in good condition.

Caused my connection to drop out over and over and slowed speed to a crawl when it did work. Complete garbage.

I bought this because the only outlet near my computer is right behind the desk. This got the plugs and transformers off the floor where I would have my feet on them, and they are thin enough to fit behind the desk.It's not obvious, but the outlets are spaced differently on the two sides, and they are "upside down" from each other. Useful for finding the right combination where all the plugs and wall warts fit. The green "protected" and red "grounded" LEDs are on all the time, but they aren't too bright.
