Game-Changer for My 2 Year Old
Before trying the techniques in this book, we tried Oh Crap, which was a huge failure for my child with SPD and severe speech delay (suspected apraxia). My son was completely against sitting on the potty and would meltdown at the suggestion. I implemented every single suggested strategy in this book. There was a lot of preparation up front. Some of the suggestions seemed ridiculous, but I did it anyway. It was all worth it though because when it came time to train, my son picked it up the first day and only had a handful of accidents. He has a very positive attitude about the potty now and after a couple weeks he didn't even have to be prompted to go. I'm blown away by how well it worked! I expected tears and fighting but everything went so much better than expected. Some of the suggestions definitely worked better than others. For my son the biggest things were the bathroom decor, elimination schedule, social story, the potty motivators, and of course the rewards. He didn't care as much about the footprints or the stickers on the toilet seat, or the personally decorated underwear. But I would try everything just to see. It has different suggestions than the other potty books I've read and I can definitely recommend it.

A must have !
Im a special Education Teacher and I got this book because I was potty training 3 of my students. I followed this book to a T and asked the parents to do so as well. IT WORKED!!I will say I did find some of the things asked to do silly but did them anyways and what would you know It worked for the kids. I definitely would recommend.

May be fine for some, but not for all.
I picked this up to work with young clients with moderate to severe ASD. I was specifically looking for suggestions we had not already attempted, but instead I found statement that dissuades the reader from engaging in evidence based practices in ABA for children with ASD. Several practices that had been effective part of a successful toileting training package (e.g. looking at a book while sitting on the toilet or using a doll to model and teach toileting), were listed as things to avoid. So I knew then that this was not the book for me. Working with kids through toilet training, with ASD, sensory challenges, and development delays sometimes requires approaches which are more tailored to the child.

Ready, Set, Potty WORKS!
I order countless items from Amazon and never leave reviews. However, more parents of children with developmental delays need to know about this book!!I used the Oh Crap potty training method with my 4 year old a few months ago. It was successful with pee but not with poop. I stumbled across this book and decided to give it a try. This method requires a good amount of planning and prep work. Some of the components seem absolutely silly but I did them anyways. On day five, everything clicked. My son figured everything out and has been fully potty trained since. Thanks to this method’s emphasis on independence, my son also independently uses the bathroom (something I thought would require significantly more time for him to achieve). THANK YOU to the author of Ready, Set, Potty!Update: It’s been a year and a half since I used this method. My son has not had a single accident and independently uses the bathroom. I used this method for my neurotypical daughter about 6 months ago. Again, it worked wonderfully and she has been accident free. I could not recommend this method more to ANY parent, regardless of the child’s development.

Toilet Training Made Easier.
I bought this book for a woman whose child has autism. She now has a resource as reference to help her manage this difficult process.
