My house was built in the 1970’s with copper clad Aluminum wiring. Unknown to me, a previous owner replaced outlets with none Co/Alr receptacles. My wife plugged in a vacuum and somehow the Neutral on the load side popped loose, killing the downstream lights and outlets. Also, creating a dangerous situation with the hot still connected and the neutral open. The receptacle was for Cu wiring only. I am replacing all the receptacles in my house with these.

I actually got Aluminum rated plugs. On 3 separate orders. Idk what everyone else has going on.

Updated March 18, 2024.I received a shipment of 2 boxes (20 outlets White) and they were regular outlets for Copper Wire. They have brass color screws and are NOT marked CO/ALR. I sent them back.The White and Ivory switches I received were CO/ALR.You can identify CO/ALR devices by two ways:1) The metal strap is marked CO/ALR with a UL mark on the strap.2) The screws for the Hot (black) wire & Neutral (white) wire will be Silver in color, (the Ground Screw will be green).For devices rated for Copper Wire Only, the screws for the Hot (black) wire & Neutral (white) wire will be Brass in color, (the Ground Screw will be green) and the strap may be marked Copper Wire Only.From Levtion website: "CO/ALR devices, the terminal screws are plated with the element Indium. Indium is an extremely soft metal that forms a gas-sealed connection with the aluminum wire, eliminating the problems caused by oxidation."Aluminum wire was used in housing/apartment construction from about 1966 to about 1975. When properly maintained it is safe.Only install CO/ALR devices on aluminum wiring.
