Not what I was expecting...
But that doesn't mean I'm going to give it less than 5 stars just because I didn't read the description as carefully as I should have.Yes, the ball is only about twice as big as the size of a baseball. But it's still very good for the exercises I am doing. As people have said, it can get slippery but I counter that by wearing a glove so I can maintaing a good grip on it. Other than that, I really enjoy the size because it allows me to work on balance and speed as well as strength (maintaining high intensity). Additionally, it opens up a lot of other workout options since some exercises are just not efficient with huge medicine balls. I've tried bigger sized medicine balls and those are good too, but either size gets the job done, really. Don't forget to pump it up just a little bit when you get it since it will be completely deflated. It is a good product but it has a lot of negative reviews simply because people thought they were going to get a standard size ball.

Perfect for grasping with one hand
I was looking for a 6lb weighted/medicine ball small enough to grasp with one hand. Such models are hard to find, but this one is perfect. Depending on inflation, which is super easy to adjust with a bike tire pump, it's about 5" diameter. It's even smaller and easier to grasp than the Sports Authority BodyFit model that is no longer manufactured. My only complaint is that the shell is smooth vinyl, not textured. However, a good wash with dishwasher soap, and it will not slip in your hand.It is squeezable but has a good solid feel and the sand does not jolt around awkwardly as some other brands do.Grab two of these and you can use them like barbells while watching TV in the living room, but with much more range of motion and smoothness of exercises without knocking yourself in the head or taking out the furniture!

good little ball
i have a hard time exercising so I wanted some equipment that was nice but not too expensive in case i quit my work out:) This ball is very nice. It's easy to handle. it is much smaller than I thought it was going to be (think big grapefruit) but it still gets the job done so it doesn't really matter. The outside material is a thick vinyl and i'm slightly worried that it will tear if something pokes it, but so far so good.

Giant stress ball!
I've never owned a "weighted fitness ball" before, so I'm not sure what I expected of it, but this particular one is pretty fun! It's a fun color (pretty true to what you see on your screen) and it's squishy! We like to call it the Giant Stress Ball, because that's basically what it is! It's the perfect size and weight to kind of mindlessly toss it from hand to hand, or back and forth with a partner. I think I'm going to get a heavier one to up the workout a bit, but this one is great too!

DOES THE JOB, BUT A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED
I've owned this item for about two weeks and used it four times within this period. My disappointment is partially my own fault. I was actually looking for medicine ball when I ordered this and didn't realize that a "fitness ball" is not quite the same thing. BUT--for the price and purpose of my purchase, it fits my need. The fitness ball is much smaller/compact than a typical medicine ball that you would find in a gym. What I've learned is that with regard to size: medicine ball=basketball size; fitness ball=grapefruit size. Again-for the most part I can still use it for resistance in core strengthening. The item itself has a nice rubber coating around it for comfort in the hands, but can be a little slippery once you start sweating. This makes the textured surface and/or dual grips of a medicine ball advantageous. Also--the item can lose its round 'sphere-like' shape. It appears to be filled with a dense sand or powder-like material and can get lumpy, from my experience. If I had known what I know today, I wouldn't have purchased this item. Rather, I would have spent the extra $15-20 for Dual-Grip Medicine Ball by Spri or Body-Solid. As it stands today, I will most likely keep this one until I buy the Body-Solid alternative, as my research (and use of both above mentioned dual-grip medicine balls), leads me to believe that Body-Solid provides better quality/cost options. Thank you and hope this helps in your search!

Great Fun!
Yes, I'm very easily entertained. The ball itself is quite sturdy and easy to manipulate. What I enjoy about it most is that tossing it around does not really feel like exercise in the same sort of committed boring way that a lot of exercise feels. It's just playing around. The ball is light enough to mess around with for quite a while, but heavy enough that you get a bit of a workout with it. This is good to play with while you're watching T.V, or at the office while you are thinking or pacing.

Very useful! Attracts People Like a Shiny New IPhone
I got this for students/athletes to train with. They love it and always ask for it. I'm not sure whether it's the rubbery surface, fuchsia color, or weight is ideal. But wow! The response from people who use it (especially females) is like if you got the latest iPhone. It's a nice weight and easy to grip, throw and catch or do exercises compared to some fiitness/medicine balls. One student is using it for her psychotherapy and says people love it as well. So it has surprisingly therapeutic value.

Not happy.
OK, so I had one of these already and I wanted to get another but, when the new one got here, it was very, very different.Same color, same weight, but significantly smaller and hard as a rock. I should have just gone outside and found a rock. Now I'm stuck with this blue doorstop (it's too much trouble to return it).I posted a pic. The one on the left is my old one; soft, grab-able. The one on the left, supposedly the same thing, is so small and packed so densely it is supper hard and you can't grip your fingers into it.
