A unique dagger for budget knife collectors
The Khyber Bowie from SCZO is a unique hybrid take on both the Afghan/Indian/Persian knife and the Bowie knife. At first glance it seems to be patterned after an Indian Choora or Persian Pesh-kabz but it doesn't have the traditional T-shaped spine typical of those daggers. Instead it has a clip point blade as if someone had stretched out a western hunting knife. This is the Khyber Bowie's unique appeal and I think that is pretty much the selling point of this knife. It's not heavy enough to be a bolo/machete alternative so it's not for that kind of heavy duty work. It's also too long to be a convenient camp/bushcraft knife. A couple of hundred years ago and this might have been a serious fighting knife however that's not a common use case in this day and age. Instead the Khyber Bowie is an interesting knife that shows us what might have resulted if bladesmiths of the American western frontier and those of Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent had a collaboration. This knife is well made if not the most finely finished. That's not in any way a complaint just an observatioin and considering the price the quality is ok. In hand the Khyber Bowie feels substantial but not too heavy given its length and thickness. The handle is long enough for larger hands to be comfortable. The scales are kept in place by three pins and feel fully secured. There is a half guard integrated with the bolster to keep your hand from slipping when stabbing or slicing forward, a mild swell in the middle to aid control, and the butt is shaped with a rear guard for grip security when drawing or pulling back. The full tang also extends back past the butt to expose a lanyard hole. The extended tang would also serve to give extra protection to the composite handle scales. This extended tang could use additional shaping and finishing as it's the least refined part of the whole knife. The blade is 320mm long with about a 22mm ricasso. There is no choil along the ricasso nor between the ricasso and the blade edge. Blade thickness is 3mm at the spine and blade width at the ricasso is 40mm. The false edge (swedge) of the clip point is about 160mm long. Out of the box the knife is sharp but not quite razor sharp. Depending on how you'll use it you may or may not choose to further sharpen the blade. The Khyber Bowie comes with a leather sheath. I am quite happy with the knife itself but I would have liked a few improvements to the sheath. It's functional but I would recommend care in use. The retention strap is the kind that goes around and snaps over the handle. The problem is that this strap is just slipped through two slits cut through the leather and isn't sewn or glued down. Because of this thumbing open the snap can make the strap just rotate through the slits and therefore fail to release the knife. Unsnapping therefore needs to be a two finger affair to ensure success. Also this type of retention strap is in the blade's path as you draw the knife out of the sheath. I can easily imagine a sliced strap sooner rather than later. Secondly, the part of the sheath that encases the blade is just as long as the blade itself. A rushed or strong sheathing motion can very easily cause the tip of the blade to cut though the end of the sheath. I like the design of the sheath in terms of looks but I would have preferred having some protective liner/layer/welt inside to prevent any accidents and a better implemented retention strap.Overall though I do recommend the Khyber Bowie to anyone who would like this style of knife. Value wise its a good deal; you get a lot of knife for the money. I would simply caution users to take care when sheathing and unsheathing the knife.

Sheath is Garbage.
This is a pretty good knife. Good sturdy blade and handle and at a low price its worth it. Honestly, the only reason I didn't give five stars us the sheath. The leather is really cheap and brittle and won't stand up to even moderate use. With mine the blade punched through the tip of the sheath just putting it back in and now the tip of the blade sticks out. But for this price I can make a better one.

WOW! I just bought a great knife, I think...or is it a short sword????
bought for my collection. read all the reviews. Happy to say the knife I received was just as advertised.. no complaints. This is a serious piece of cutlery. VERY long, sharp and heavy!. Finish of blade and handles excellent. Fit up of blade handles pins excellent! When I review I also bear in mind the PRICE. This knife is easily worth 3x the price. I have bought other SZCO knifes and never had an issue. They show how far knives made in Pakistan have come. The leather sheath is decorative (but light).. its the cardboard type of leather. Honestly I cannot imagine who would even attempt to hang this from their pants belt! This should have its own scabbard! Add a crossbar and you've got a great short sword!!! I recommend 100%. Think about your intended use!

Sheath lasted less than one day!!!
So far I think the blade is OK still from being made in Pakistan. The sheath know is the worst I have ever received. The lacing on the sheath I believe is actually thin paper. If it’s not paper I’m not sure what it is because you can break it with your fingers. With the tip protection on the knife went through the bottom of the sheath, the stitching along the side of the knife came loose and the handle which is stitched with that same material came loose.

Dropped it once and handle broke
Cool looking but not very sturdy. Dropped it and handle came loose. Held together with tiny obviously weak pins. You get what you pay for

Beautiful knife on a budget.
Love this knife. No it is not the most fancy knife and certainly not of the highest quality materials, but for the price you get a beast of a blade that is lightweight and rust resistant as heck! The handle is sized nicely but is a bit smooth. I recommend adding some type of cordage to the end of the handle if you intend to use this knife for anything other than in the kitchen. Also it will need some sharpening to meet most peoples standards for cutting.

I like it!
It has a long wicked blade. It has some weight to it. The sheath is marginal, thin leather, but is useable. It is a lot of knife for the money. I like it!

Impressive knife
This is razor sharp out of the box it came in. The handle and blade are very nicely polished, straight and flawless. It's also fairly light weight, including the sheath, so would make a nice carry on a backpacking trip or hike. The snap on the sheath is a little high, but overall, I'm very impressed at this price point.
