My go to cleaner for hard water scale!
I live in a city with very hard water. I spent almost a decade here wiping things down and fighting against mineral buildup without finding anything that easily removed the problem. Our house is built in such a way that we just can't put a water softener in because there is no place to put a drain line. Unfortunately it seems that we're just stuck fighting the buildup. Then one day I stumbled across the knowledge that citric acid loves to eat away at the mineral buildup from hard water. This stuff has been a miracle worker! I've removed so many years of mineral buildup all over our house! The faucets in the bathrooms look like new! I clean out my tea kettle every few weeks with this stuff! My favorite use for this is in the dishwasher. I add about 1 - 2 teaspoons just tossed straight in to the bottom of the dishwasher before I turn it on. The first wash after we did this the first time was so amazing! I couldn't believe how clean my dishes looked. After the first week of trying this out it was almost like we'd replaced all of our dishware. Years of buildup that had also caused other stains was gone. I drink big glasses of iced tea every day and my tumblers were starting to get a tea colored tint on the inside. Thanks to the hard water scale being removed, the stain that was attached to it disappeared too and all of my tumblers looked like I'd just bought them! My mom was so impressed by how clean our dishes looked that she bought a bag of citric acid and now tosses some in with every dishwasher load too!It is SO quick and easy to use as a cleaner. It is activated with just hot water. I put hot water in a container, pour some citric acid in and either drop things into the container to soak, or hold the container under things so that they can be submerged like the faucet head in my bathrooms. Some spots need a little more creativity. I sprinkle granules around the handles of the faucets in the bathroom where drips from wet hands like to cause buildup over time and then drizzle tiny amounts of hot water over it. It works so quickly, usually within 3 - 5 minutes, then I use a sponge to try to rub it in to tough build up a bit and then rinse it all away, that's it! I put some in my hot kettle right after I've made my morning tea with a little extra hot water in the pot. It literally takes 30 seconds to remove all the scale from the bottom of the pot, and then it's clean as new. I do this every 2 - 4 weeks and today my 2 year old kettle still looks new which is a miracle with the hard water here.I know that there are a lot of uses for citric acid, but I only use mine as a cleaner for hard water scale and i can't say enough good about it. It has been the miracle that my house needed when other options for removing scale have failed. It's cheap, easy to use, not a harsh chemical like so many other cleaning products, I so highly recommend this if you're struggling with hard water buildup!

good price for a great product
Citric acid is somewhat of a commodity item. So one might be as good as the next. This product stands out for several reasons. One it is food grade, primarily I need this to clean a water distiller. It easily removes concrete like residue. It is well packaged, it is in a bag within the resealable outer bag. The price is very competitive. Also it is 'fine grain', a half cup dissolves quickly in hot water. Dishwashers and laundry machines pumps can be damaged by undissolved product. I'm very happy with this and will almost certainly buy it again.

Great for cleaning washing machine
Used 2 cups citric acid with one scoop of oxyclean in my washing machine for each of 3 washings with a 2 hour soak, and the black gunk is gone. Great product. I tried washing machine cleaning tablets, baking soda, bleach, oxyclean by itself, vinegar, lemon juice, etc. all to no avail. The citric acid really worked.

Repackaged item?
The citric acid itself works fine however it seems to be a repackaged item. When you open the bag, there is another bag inside that has its own nutrition label.

Gets my glassware spotless in the dishwasher
We have hard water here and prior to my discovering citric acid, I had to add some Tang to every dishwasher load - and it didn't always work. This stuff is awesome and it goes in every single load.

The ONLY Cleaner for an Expensive Sous Vide Device - and Amazingly Versatile for Everything Else!
For the last year I have been into Sous Vide cooking, and the heating element / propeller on my circulator eventually became totally encrusted with calcium stains. Since the Sous Vide circulator was over $500, I thought twice about using vinegar to clean it and called the manufacturer who suggested using a mixture of 1/4 cup Citric Acid and one gallon water to clean the element and propeller, and it worked amazingly well. Evidently, vinegar is neither as effective and can sometimes damage the device (not sure why but I didn't ask). I also found out that the super expensive cleaning tablets for my Expresso machine were just clumps of citric acid in a coating that dissolves - can probably save some money there!I was so impressed I also used it to clean:1) my shower head and wand attachment2) The sprayer on my kitchen sink to fix those "stray water strands"3) My coffee maker (no more vinegary smell)4) The hard water stains on my shower doorsYou can use it basically to clean anything you'd normally clean with with vinegar, that doesn't require odor control. The mixture of Citric acid powder and water can be diluted / strengthened at will too - which makes it much more versatile than white vinegar, and overall, if you look at the number of gallons of cleaning solution you can make with five pound bag, it totally trumps white vinegar in value.Of course it won't remove the smell of a messy litter box or toilet needing to be cleaned like vinegar, and and can't be used to make salad dressing in a pinch, but it can be used for canning Tomatoes with low acidity.

Use it in the dishwasher!
I use this in the dishwasher for sparkling dishes. It is cheaper than buying Lemi-shine.
