Decorative Butterfly Iron Rain Chain

So far, I’ve been very happy with this rain chain. Having a limestone house, we were very reluctant to drill into the stone when we put up our gutters. I found this as an alternative that has worked well even though, on one end of the gutters, we had already installed the leaf guard so could not utilize the downspout chain holder, included in the package.I just reached up and hooked the rain chain hook inside the downspout opening. Even after a rare Austin snow day on 1/10/21, it’s still holding up great.The one we used at the other end downspout fell down. We were able to insert the downspout piece but the screw was not working well in the tight spot, so he just tried laying the screw across the opening and hooked the rain chain. That fell down after the snow, so I did the same thing by just putting the hook up and over the downspout hole and for the past week of rain and sprinkles, it’s still up.I’ve been trying to upload the picture I took but Amazon app isn’t cooperating.

Great looking product with beautifully decorated, relatively large buckets. A good value for a fair price.Buyers should be aware that each butterfly rain chain is only a little over 4 foot long. Most applications will require linking two or more of these chains together in order for it to be long enough. I combined two of these butterfly rain chains with a iron bird rain chain I already had, and it should be perfect for where I plan to put it.They do not come with a gutter mounting hanger, so you will have to buy that separately, or you can try to make your own.They are pretty heavy, so they should be anchored at the bottom somehow so they don't get banged around against the building's structure in heavier storm winds.They look like they are made of brass or bronze, but they are made of iron, and are therefor subject to rusting over time. It probably would not be a bad idea to clean them with a brass bristled brush, and then spray them down with a lite coat of clear lacquer or polyurethane spray paint every so often as needed to stay ahead of any rusting problems.

I ordered the butterfly but I got dragon fly at least I think that's what it is 🤣 but I like it so instead of sending it back I kept it. It's nice and pretty and does the job

It’s supposed to have holes, if this seems weird to you need to research things even a little before you buy them. This works as intended and looks nice.

The chain is really cute. I bought two to hook together. Still too short for an average roof, but inserting some links from the hardware store balanced it out and it looks perfect. Otherwise, consider buying three chains. Makes the house more personalized.

I bought this and another one for the end of my garage. It had no gutter and the water dripping for years ruined the last 2feet of my cedar siding. I had the siding repaired last fall and last week my contractor painted my house, installed a gutter (no downspout due to safety issues), and installed my rainchains. Worked like a charm. I bought a large pot for the rain to drain into.

Not what I expected..I understood that the first container filled with rain and would overflow to the next and so on. However each container has a hole in the bottom, the rain flows straight through. No catchment.. no overflow.

I have gutters all around the house so i'm using this as an outdoor decoration and not as a rain chain. The product description stated that it is 35 inches long, however the one I received is approximately 7 feet long from top hook to bottom of decorative faux gemstone, with 6 butterfly cups (not 5 as shown in the listing photo.) I'm not sure from what kind of metal this is manufactured, so don't know how this would hold up as a long-term rain chain, but it's very pretty and I'm very happy with this purchase.
