Yes, there are things that you should do right away. The first thing you should do is wipe down all surfaces as you would normally do with any new product and let everything dry completely. Lightly sand all sharp edges with fine sandpaper or sanding sponge (240 grit). These have probably been carved out of bamboo blocks by a CNC wood router and the very precise edges are very sharp. Remove all dust and apply a light coat of Butcher Block Oil/Conditioner to all surfaces, let dry/absorb overnight and wipe down all surfaces. This protects the board and extends it's life considerably. Give the board additional treatments anytime you notice wear of drying out spots, always lightly hand wash after every use, never submerge in water and it will last for years

Do the drawers have magnets in them?

Yes, each drawer has a single magnet at the rear center of the drawer. The magnet is very strong and keeps the drawer tightly closed.

I’ve always found it really easy to deal with Amazon on defective merchandise. The box on a gift was heavily damaged, and they immediately replaced it. Just contact the seller or Amazon.

got it chipped a bit

i love the design of it but not the material or finish as much. one of the side drawers on mine is split a bit and the boards themselves feel a little rougher because theres not a finish on it. i haven’t used the food grade mineral oil on it yet so hopefully that improves the overall texture. as for the split, since i like the board and the price, i’m going to try to fix it or just deal with it.
