I read reviews most of the time. Reviews make it very clear in this case that there is no white material cover on the top of the container. In my case the tub goes under the sink at the back of the cabinet and I have no kids or pets. Even if I did the placement would make the issue moot. Since I know that this is how the container is packaged I also know enough to handle it accordingly. I have a sink where there was a leak under there from a faucet. The leak had been there for a while so even after I dried it thoroughly there was still a residual odor. These tubs have been great. There is no more odor at all and I’ve had them under there for about a year, switching them out every 30-45 days. I will continue to use this product.

These definitely work well. I use in our car to help reduce humidity. This batch does not have the white cover. Not sure if these are how they are made now. The text description states works faster with no paper cover ? The mfg description still has the safety cover mentioned . Other reviews also mentioned same issue. I will need to research further.I contacted DampRid Co, Mystery solved this item FG118AM from Amazon does not have the white cover. may speed up absorption. This is mentioned in the text description next to the product picture. From other retailers it does have a cover, if you need that. No cover works ok for my use.

I use these in my bathroom, and they work great at removing moisture before any mold grows. I also put one in my car after it got flooded and it does not have a musty or mildewy smell. You would never know that there was once water sloshing under the seats and gushing out of the tailpipe! I sopped the water up myself with towels and blankets and old pillows, then stuck a Damp Rid in the console in the middle of the front seats and have been driving it for over a year and a half with no problems.

This product is not good or reliable, and quality control is nonexistent. There is supposed to be a layer that separates the water from the crystals and keeps the water from overflowing, but it was busted on all three of the DampRids I received. It looked crooked, with the crystals spread all over in the DampRids. This would likely to lead to water and the beads overflowing as the layer is supposed to prevent that, making this product a hazard rather than a help (especially if you're like me and wanted to use it in a room that also has electronics nearby). These were unopened as well, and the outer box was in perfect condition, so I don't believe this was due to shipping damage, but rather they were knowingly sold and shipped this way. I will be returning them for e refund. Shame on DampRid for selling products in this condition!

I have used Damp Rid products for years and have been pleased. However, this last shipment is different than any I have purchased before. There is no safety seal between the foil covering and the actual charcoal beads, so liquid would spill if the product tipped over. I contacted the manufacturer customer service and spoke with a very nice representative who informed me that the products they supply through Amazon don't have that safety seal. She said that products purchased in retail stores do have the seal, so recommended that anyone desiring that extra layer get them from the retail stores. I have a hard time finding them locally, so I have ordered through Amazon in the past. I guess it was always a different supplier, because I haven't run into this before now. I probably overlooked this detail in their description, but I wanted to pass the information along.

We live near the coast in San Diego, and the humidity is very high. These work like a charm! In our climate, they fill up entirely with water in 4 to 6 weeks. The mildew smell is gone! I have them in all my closets and cabinets. I highly recommend.

These are ideal when used alongside indicating silica gel, you will find yourself liking these because they are more convenient and seem to bring their own atmosphere with them, though they are disposable, and will need to replaced every few months in hot, high humidity usage.

Prevents mold buildup and protects. I use these in my motorhome while in storage and on the road. You would be shocked at how much humidity builds up. Don't need in my house but I am sure very effective there as well. A cheap preventive products for a costly problem
