Bouncy anime girls. No minors should play this.
This is one of if not the best RPGs I've played over the course of my 20+ year gaming career, it has plenty fan service, the battles are fun and interesting , and the bouncy heroines adds to the allure and humor, especially since they bounce when being viewed in the costume screen too, their hair and dresses move as well so it creates a unique and interesting accessory viewing screen. The classmating portion that is how you get the vast amount of star children you'll make while playing is interesting and cute. Don't just consider this an rpg though, it's a jrpg that is also a dating sim in a way. I myself have had no issues making the first four heroines very happy, I've yet to unlock the other three but with those three plus the other jobs for the star children there is plenty content to go around. If you love RPGs and bouncy anime girls, you will enjoy conception 2.

Good for any otaku gamer
Months ago I tried the demo for Conception II and my first taught was: "Wow, this game just looks like an ecchi Persona game". But after that, I keep playing it and I make my mind that this game is a must have for any otaku that likes anime-like games.Keeping the anime desing apart, the gameplay is just awesome and the characters are just well-designed. When this game was released, people from Costa Rica's game forums just got crazy, but not in the good way, they keep saying this was just a machist excuse for otakus to play something. But in fact, there are many girls also playing it that tell them it was pretty cool and told them to try it before taling about it.Awesome RPG and it will be appealing for any anime lover out there, Maybe it's not a must have, but sure it will be a good piece for a collection.

JRPG + Baby Making = Persona
Sometimes I must remind myself of what a JRPG is. Turn based battles. Dungeons. Bosses. A cast of varying characters. And a unique gimmick that sets it apart. Conception II is the textbook definition of a JRPG.In the world of Attera, the 6 elements basically have balance throughout the world. One day, the element of Dusk started to go on a rampage creating a total of 8 Labyrinths, with each one spawing monsters to hunt down humans. In response to this, the Star God has granted teenages from the ages of 16-18 with the "Star Brand", which generates the element of light, Ether, to combat the monsters. You enroll as the "God's Gift", a male with an abnormally high Ether Count. You enroll into a large school for Deciples (The name given to people who are branded) and now must travel with a cast of 7 female characters to destroy the labyrinths once and for all.Conception II is notable as other than the main plotline above, there are about 4 other plotlines intersecting the main one. Which means, this game CAN and WILL get confusing if you don't keep up with the terminology that this game expects you to know. Unfortunatly, the characters is where this game starts falling apart. The main character starts off with an interesting revenge story, but it doesen't go from there until your nearing the end, and even then it's unfulfilling. The seven heroines is where the game picks up a little. Each one of the 7 heroines have varying personalities and bonding with each one is a fulfilling experiance. Throughout the game you will visit the heroines almost like a dating simulation. Your sometimes given dialouge choices, and selecting the right one will increase your bond with the heroines.I mean the word "bond" literally. When you go into one of the many dungeons in the game, you can only take one of the 7 heroines with you. To make sure that you are not overwhelmed, you must create a army of "Star Children" to help combat the monsters. You read that right, you, I kid you not, make kids to fight monsters. Got to love the Japanese. During any point in the game (when your NOT in a dungeon) you can go to the nearby church and make babies. You select a heroine, may sometimes see a small cutscene, and then are given to animated scene in where the female characters get into a series of sexually explicit positions, before finally being taken into the class screen. Star Children are ranged from a series of classes, and is one of the better parts of the game. The classes range from Swords, to mages, to healers, to snipers and even singers. You will unlock more classes as the game progresses, and sometimes, a certain item is needed to unlock certain classes. When you are not bonding with the heroines or making babies, you are in a dungeon. Dungeons are separated into a series of floors scattered in a maze like structure. The goal is to get to the bottom level and slay the king monster (called the "Dusk Spawner") while trudging through a bunch of enemies to get there. Battles are a turn based affair with a crapton of system mechanics. When you attack an enemy, you can select what direction to attack from. Position matters, as certain directions can inflict more damage. Yet attacking a enemy from a non-weak position will fill up the chain gauge. When it's full, the enemy will be "chained". When this happens the enemy will slow down, and you must murder that enemy until it's turn to rack up Chain Points. At the end of the battle, you will gain EXP, Money and BP if you chained. You also need to keep in mind of Ether Count. If you score critical hits, or use skills, you can raise your Ether Count. Doing so will increase your characters SPD and turn order. However, getting hit from behind will lower your Ether Count, and if you just so happen to be hit from behind while your Ether Count is at maximum, it will drop straight to zero. It's a lot to keep in mind. Luckily, your in battle so much that these things become second nature, and it does add a level of depth. Unfortunatly, battles, dungeons and baby making is bascially everything this game has to offer. Yet the game does a good job in the bonding sections as well as battles to make it not feel so monotonous.Conception II's greatest strength lies with the 7 heroines. Unlike the main protagonist, these women have fully ranging personalities. And boy do these women have baggage. Their problems range from Asperger's Syndrome, Multiple Personality Disorder, inferiority complex, childhood trauma, and even one character being a revived corpse. You will find out more about these women as you do more bonding sections. This all leads up to one of the games endings, which are all character endings concerning one of the female characters.Yet the voices is where the game starts to falter. The English Dub does have a good cast, but some roles are just bad to listen to. The most notable one is Torri, one of the seven heroines. I don't mind her as a character, but her voice literally matches her hairstyle, she has a monotone. She always talks with one note, and even moments in where she really needs the protagonist by her side, she STILL says it with one note. The other voices are not THAT bad, but they are not great either. It almost feels like there was things lost in translation, and unfortunately, we don't have access to the Japanese Dub.Conception II is a niche game for a niche audience. If you are a fan of dungeon crawlers, especially ones that tries very hard to scratch that Persona vibe, then pick this up. It is a good game to put a few hours into, and once you get the endings, not that much to come back to.

Truely Excellent Dating Sim - Tedious Dungeon Crawler
This game is fairly good all around. I really wanted to give it 4 stars, but half of the game has some fairly glaring issues for me.As a dating sim, it is very amusing. The cast of characters are amusing, cute, unique, and very enjoyable to talk with and learn about - I found it very difficult to choose one classmate for certain things because I didnt want the others feeling left out. It was very nice - the cast was much more likeable than the personal games I have played. The game really drags in the dungeon department however. As I write this I am currently giving the game a couple month break. The dungeons are very large (many early ones taking an up to an hour) and get progressively longer as you advance through the story. Personally, I also found the combat rather shallow and lacking a technical flare. Most of the time I am able to get through unscathed using blunt force tactics.I would recommend this game to people who have played dating sims and enjoyed them, but only if they do not mind a certain amount of grinding through dungeons.

Meh.
The game is.... meh. The girls are super cute, but that's about the only good thing it's got going for it. The music was annoying and way too loud, even when I turned the music almost all the way down in options, it still drowned out most of the character's voices. I had some hope for the actual gameplay, the dungeon crawling and fighting and such, especially when I saw how similar it all looked to Persona 3 and 4, two of my all time favorite games. Buuut nope, Conception 2's battle system was somehow boring, even though too much was going on. In short--really cute characters with nice art, but everything else is kinda dull and the music is just grating and obnoxious.
