Still my favorite DMC game
I had to write this because I know how much most people hated Devil May Cry 2. I loved it. You see, I thought his outfit was better than the one on the first game, I figured that since I went through so much trouble to get some of the skills I got in the first game that it was nice to still have some of that in the second one. What I didn't like so much was the fact that Dante was a little too quiet. I would recommend it only to someone who absolutely adores the series and thinks they couldn't do anything wrong. Otherwise, I really think they would hate this game. I love it, because I love Dante, and I love the whole story behind it. I also love the other character Lucia because of the fact that her dual knives may even be more useful than Dante's guns. I just really love this game, and I felt it was the first one I should replace. I have another reason for loving it, but that would be a sort of "spoiler" to some people, because it would let people know what you get for beating the game on hard setting.

This is a cakewalk compared to the original...
Not even 5 minutes into this game did it take me to realize how much this was going to bite. Sure the graphics are improved from the first one, but it is incredibly easier to beat. I kid not when I say it took me less than a day's worth of gameplay to beat it. That's how much easier it is than the first. They took some of the old enemies and made them way easier, added fillers, and didn't even bother with the storyline. From the start they led on about how the lady would tell Dante a story about his father. NEVER HAPPENED. There isn't anything redeeming about this game, not even the storyline or the graphics. But above all, the controls were awful! They kept the same button for the gun and then took away the button to interact with objects. What they replaced it with was with a slide move to dodge attacks. In DMC all you had to do to do that same move was jump+side of control stick+target. That was so stupid on their part to take that away. Once more, one of the final boss battles was so easy I literally was able to type on my laptop with one hand, fire at the boss; not take any damage, and STAND STILL. I don't recommend buying this game unless you really want to complete the storyline/collection.

Game Review
The game is a classic. I only purchased it because I lost my old copy. The game has updated graphics and game play compared to Devil May Cry 1 (DMC). It is mostly a hack and slash feel, there really is no skill needed to complete the game. However, the game is difficult if you play over medium level. You have to be more patient and attack the mostly with a plan. The game sort follows the story from the first game. If you are new to the franchise, you are not missing anything.

Not even worth it
I bought this game knowing that it was bad. I read the reviews, I watched gameplay videos, and I thought I was prepared.I wasn't.Besides the improved graphics, there is nothing about this game that makes it better than the first. In fact, I'd say it's worse. The camera is absolutely awful. You can't move it manually and it doesn't eve move to focus in on whatever you're targeting. The targeting system itself is atrocious. You cannot turn off the auto-targeting which makes missions where you have to hit targets while enemies infinitely spawn quite difficult as the closest enemy is automatically targeted, not the target you need to hit to get to the next area. Dante is also a ridiculously slow runner which makes the speed based missions in the game harder than they really should be. The swords are almost completely useless. For a boss fight you'd be better off shooting for ten minutes. Weapon collecting has become more of a side-quest unlike how it is in the first game where it's more integrated into the storyline.Overall this is a bad game and I would not recommend playing it ever. If you really want to go through that storyline like I did, just watch a play through or read a synopsis.

Devil May Cry Fan
It's a great game. Takes a little while to understand the controls and what not. This is also the final game in the series as a finisher. DMC 5 may hold something different.
