I plan to use a vesa mount, so are you able to remove the stand entirely from the back of the monitor?

The upper part of the mount doesn't come off but I've been able to attach vesa mounts without removing the factory mount. You might need a file to modify the vesa mount slightly. While it was a terrible idea on Samsungs part, you should be able to work around the socket with little trouble.

No. The screen is a mostly matte finish. Very little (if any) glare.
