Does it come with a warranty?

Schrade comes with a warranty, warranty terms are customer pays to ship defective product back (This cost should be charged back to factory Schrade contracted with vs customer paying) And additionally they tack on a handling fee of around $8.00 ( Which is sometimes waived ) You ship item back, and you get it back in around 7-10 business days. Note, you do NOT get a tracking number to track the item.)...and they will NOT issue a pre-paid shipping label.. So you the customer ate paying for their "screw-ups", which like said previously the supplier Schrade contracted with should bear all RMA costs. Main problem I have is Schrade depends entirely upon the supplier / for Quality Control oversight. I had one of the SCHF45 LEROY'S which upon LIGHT use the blade chipped.. Swapped it for a SCHF1 Survival knife. Went thru 2 of those thru Schrade.. 3 more thru a seller that let me look thru several to find one that was ACCEPTABLE. Problems were: Sloppy machine work SCHF1 has a hollow handle, cap screws on that "waterproofs" that section. Machine work was very sloppy in area O-ring seals against. Coating had "dirt" (metal chips) embedded in coating in sealing area. Handle on one in addition to above, was machined off-center with KNURLING missing on 30% of handle. Sheath would collapse each time blade was pulled from sheath. Obvious wear on coating appearing after 20 minutes on couch playing with knife. The closure strap NOT armoured / postion ed so it doesn't get cut. (Temp fix if you have some velcro at ripping is to put a sacrificial layer over it, otherwise it gets cut in short order. That's off the top of my head. Last thing, related to customer having to PAY return shipping on DEFECTIVE items. Schrade / BTI TOOLS, who is now owned by Smith & Wesson touts how they use the BEST MATERIALS and BRAG about their QUALITY CONTROL... If they are having only a few rejects per 1,000... How come they aren't issuing pre'paid shipping labels for DEFECTIVE PRODUCT ? BudK / CH Kadels whose items are priced significantly lower than Schrade's item upon calling them issue a PRE-PAID SHIPPING LABEL...with a 2 minute phone call.

How thick is the steel?

There are multiple reviews on Youtube when search for SCHF45. One says the blade thickness is just under 1/4 inch. I did not measure mine as it has been returned when the blade failed when cutting some one inch spruce branches. a chunk of the the cutting edge broke off. I trust this is an exceptional case and a manufacturing defect.

Hi guys im planning on buying a knife that can stand up against any punishment. Will your knife bend, break or chip?

Depending upon what you are doing with a given knife, ANY knife can bend, break or chip. If I take a knife and use it to chop bricks as an example, then it's most likely not going to be good for the blade. Now if you are talking typical tasks, say for camping, then this knife would perform those tasks without bending, breaking or chipping.

Does this come with a kydex sheath or a nylon? Picture shows kydex but description says nylon

According to Schrade LLC, the SHCF45 and SCHF48 use a HARD SHEATH made of out of FIBER-FILLED NYLON.PS: How to say this.. "Quality Control Standards" at Schrade is very "lax"... (Not good)Had a SCHF45 in which during light use blade rolled /chipped. Swapped that for another model directly thru Schrade/Taylor Brands/BTI TOOLS... (Me paying shipping costs). Item received had multiple manufacturing defects, got that swapped out and it's replacement wasn't much better.(Piss-poor machine work)... this being after conversations with department at BTI that handles warranty exchanges.. Me requesting that replacement be inspected, TWICE being told they'd been checked out carefully.... Ended up going thru a local dealer, going thru his inventory of several more of the same item and found one that while not perfect was slightly better so it's pretty clear that Schrade has pretty lax quality control standards.*EDIT 2017-05-09: Stupid me purchased another Schrade...... a SCHF1-SM Extreme Survival knife.... More sloppy machine work (Blade ground different side to side), trash in coating in area o-ring end cap seals against (compartment supposed to be waterproof- problem being sealing surface needs to be smooth=trash causing high-low spots and if sanded.. potential for steel to RUST occurs with it being made on 1070 steel...)... and coating on blade came "chipped" in several places....(Note Schrade warranty does not cover coatings from what I've read... Also note a design flaw in sheath on SCHF1 / SCHF2 series knives in with the snap button makes direct contact with coating on knife and within 20 minutes it will wear thru coating chipping the paint off... Sure the heck isn't power coating... Stuff comes off just by looking at it...)Guess this is why BTI/SCHRADE warranty excludes coatings...NOTE: Quality Control being lacking @ Schrade /BTI TOOLS issues aside:WARRANTY On SCHRADE products is dismal in (2) respects:1: On DEFECTIVE product CUSTOMER BEARS SHIPPING COSTS (Typically $12 -15), and a $6.95 "handling fee" per item is charged. (LOL)2: Warranty only applies to original owner.... If you "Gift" a Schrade product to someone, WARRANTY is NULL and VOID.(With the bulk, if not all Schrade items being made in China, in which cost per unit is VERY low... And with Schrade/Taylor Brands /BTI TOOLS touting they make "high-quality stuff under strict quality control standards" Schrade /BTI TOOLS should be issuing "Pre-Paid" shipping labels, and warranty should transfer.)Example of a company which deserves your consideration:Recently I've been buying (Low cost) items thru Budk.com.... Over the past several months I've had to swap out numerous items, some being exchanged several times. I buy from them because if there is a problem I call them up and they issue a pre-paid RMA label, and / or will ship a replacement and tell me to keep /junk out the defective item.Schrade / BTI TOOLS with their pricing being ALOT higher than BudK's offerings... could afford to issue pre-paid RMA lablels.
