Q: Instructions say to attach inflation tip to pump or to a bicycle pump but my pump doesn't have a detachable tip. Suggestions for using a bike pump?

The pump that comes with the ball works perfectly fine

Q: Is the material strong enough to withstand cat claws?

No. My cat did a very short and slight "kitty stretch" on the side of the ball and spsssshhhhh, ball was gone. I don't own this base, but it looks to be of a lesser grade material than the heavy duty ball.

Q: Is the ball with resistance cord a different ball? It looks different than the other ones, by the lines around the ball.

The big gray ball with the cords and or with the lines around it is a different ball than the one that comes sitting in the actual chair the big one with the cords and a lines is a softer ball more bouncy the one that go in the chair or a little more sturdy stiffer if you will
