To reduce power consumption and use less energy LED lamps are the way to go. I chose this 9W version which equates to around 60W in an old style filament bulb. However, the jury's out on whether 'Cool White' was the way to go. This version amounts to being a daylight effect and turning the light on in my little office turns the room into Wembley Stadium during a night game. It's bright and very white. This is great for artists and anybody who needs colours to be displayed very accurately, but I think that Warm White might have been nicer for the ambience - this is more equivalent to the kind of light that you get from a filament bulb. Essentially Cool white radiates more blue in the light (cooler) while Warm white has more red in it. Warm white will be closer to what most of us are used to.

Long lasting. Easy to use and install. Affordable. Very bright.UPDATE!!!It's June I made my previous review in February.. Let's just say the bulb is very bright and works well until it starts flicking and now loses its brightness over time. Not impressed.
