Excellent product for backpacking and for the camper
This is an excellent product that lasts a long time for its price because you don't need to use very much for each meal. We use it for backpacking, for one of the ingredients in our home-dried hummus, and for making burritos in our camper. I highly recommend it.

My new camp food
I mix these beans in a gallon bag with minute rice. I add crystalized lime, salt, and spices. I go camping. I boil water. I add the water to my rice and beans mix. In ten minutes, I have a great meal. The meal is cheap. The meal is tasty. The meal is filling. The meal is easy to clean up. I am happy. These beans made me happy. Will they make you happy too? I don't know. Do you like camping? Do you like cheap and easy meals? Buy these beans.

Good product!
Love black beans. I also like frontier products. I will say I use this as refried beans and do not follow the instructions written. I use 1 cup of these beans, and 3/4th cup of water, give them a good stir making sure everything gets wets. My water temp is between 200-212 degrees. I cover with a paper towel and then place a plate on top of the towel. I wait maybe 10ish minutes or longer, give them a stir and they will be too thick for refried. I add 1 T at a time and stir till I get the canned refried consistency that I am used to. I season with lime juice, cumin, and pepper, stir it all up and enjoy. I will tell you though these beans stink when they come out of the bag. After rehydrating and seasoning, they don't smell bad any longer. They taste great. I have had them without seasoning and they still taste ok, to me. Great value, a lot healthier than the can products in the grocers. Much, much lower salt content, which is a win for me.

Easiest Go-to protein source in the pantry
These are delicious, use them for a black bean soup, ready in five minutes with sour cream and chopped tomato with cilantro, and a quesadilla, or a delicious bean dip.

Perfect for low-weight camping/backpacking meal prep!
I bought these to make some pre-packed meals to use with my JetBoil on a camping trip, and I was not disappointed! The beans have a good nutritional content for their weight and helped me prep a full week's worth of dinners without adding much weight to my gear at all. These would also be fine to use for cooking at home I imagine, but I think they're best suited for things like camping and backpacking. I will order them again soon before my next camping trip.

Dried beans are great when you need 'em fast
Dried beans are great when you need 'em fast. Just add water to barely cover and microwave for 30 seconds. The beans are ready to use! You can also add salsa and spices to "spice" things up. Stick them in tacos, burritos...whatever and wherever you need some cooked beans. I also like them for food storage as they last for years and require very little in the way of resources (heat and water) to create an edible dish. In power outages - of course my microwave isn't working - I add some dried beans to a small pan and some water and cook them for a few minutes over my butane camp stove. Add some cheese, onions, cilantro and make them even tastier. The beans can also be hydrated before cooking by soaking in water just to cover, then heated. They do re-constitute faster in boiling water.Because they are dehydrated you can store more beans in less space than with canned beans. Where dry beans take an hour or two to cook and soften, dehydrated beans take only seconds. Love them!

Easy lunches, camping or travel food
I have a lot of food allergies and I'm always trying to find things I can eat when traveling, camping or even at work. The black bean flakes make great burritos and I've made quick bean soups with them. Just add spices! They rehydrate quickly (two minutes in the microwave). They're just handy to have around and I think they have a great flavor.
