Amazing kit for kids who like to tinker
We've gotten a couple of these wooden construction toys from this company. They're incredible. The rubber band based system is easy to manage, resilient and flexible. My 7 year old was able to construct it by himself, kept him busy for a couple hours, resulting a toy he enjoyed playing with.

10 year old boy loves it.
My 10 yr old is getting better at having an attention span, so could put this together with a little bit of adult help. Pretty fun in the building phase 7 useable for the launching phase. We'll see how long it stays in the top 20 toys. I liked it, and I'm 50...so good for ages 10-50 I guess.

Good kit for younger kids
I reviewed a similar item to this recently and wasn't terribly impressed. That's because the parts were small and my son, who is within the recommended age group, broke a ton of parts while trying to remove them. This kit has larger pieces and should be easy for younger kids to remove without breaking. There's still a risk of that, so I recommend that you pop the smaller pieces out in private and then push them back in place before presenting this to your kid.The end product is really cool, and my kid was happy with it, so 5/5.

12-year-old son approved!
My son had a great time putting this race car together! At twelve years old, he could handle it completely himself, but we still assembled it together for some nice one-on-one time. :) The instructions were great, and all the parts snapped into place easily and smoooothly, and he declared it to be "super cool!" ;)

No messy glue needed
This is a gift-quality toy for youngsters who enjoy a challenge at their level. They will be delighted at how much they can accomplish and learn by assembling this car. No messy glue is needed. This company has taken a DIY activity and turned it into a learning experience all in one box. The project comes with two instruction books. One for the car and the other for the launcher. This way the child does one project at a time at their level of speed. No need to rush. They then move to the next project. Both instruction books detail how to remove the parts from the master boards without breaking them. They also mention when assembling the car to listen for the "click" to know the part is seated correctly. The parts are not overwhelming for a child. There are three sheets. That's enough for the child to remain focused and at the same time see the project coming together. The parts are of a good quality and should stand up the the average use from most children. If the child is creative they may wish later to paint the car as another project. Paint is not included but can be purchased for that activity here on Amazon. This is a nice project to y that can give the child a sense of accomplishment when completed. I would recommend it to all the creative children who enjoy putting things together.

Fun away from the computer for our middle school gamer!
The media could not be loaded. We bought this Smartivity Speedster DIY Fun Car Toy for my 10 yr old who prefers to spend his free time gaming on his computer than playing with physical games, and in this case building one.Well, he got in trouble and had his gaming time taken away. Looking for something to do, he decided to give the Smartivity Speedster DIY Fun Car Toy a go.He truly enjoyed every moment of building this toy then launching it.What was especially nice was that nearly all the pieces were (I’m assuming) laser cut into very dense cardboard that could be easily mistaken for wood. This meant that it was easy to see all the pieces were present and he’d just need to punch out the pieces he needed for each step. The manuals are excellent, illustrated and in color. There are 2 manuals: one for the car and one for launcher.I’ve read some reviews on this toy before ordering, and some note the performance of the toy once built. While the car did successfully launch, the lunching part was probably only 10% of the overall experience. The real joy for my son, was building the toy which is the 90% of the fun and experience for him.As he went along building, he figured out better techniques and actually would backup a few steps to make sure he set the rubber bands and pieces in tightly, creating solid 90 degree angles and such. The rubber band tool is especially clever and fun.All in all, this is a very easy review to write of a 5-star toy and experience. In fact, we’ve ordered other Smartivity toys for Christmas including the pinball machine.Hope the pics of what's in the box and it being assembled help you decide! We have no regrets at all.

Perfect for young kids
Never underestimate a young boys fascination with something that launches and files through the air. This kit is pretty easy to assemble. I am pretty sure my 8 year old could have done it himself. My 4 year old wanted to help too, but he had trouble with the rubber bands. The only tough part was assembling the wheels because it was a tight fit and required a little finesse. Once completed, the launcher is pretty strong so it puts some decent power into the car. Since it's basically held together with rubber bands, it's pretty robust as well. My boys favorite past time is launching it off the edge of the dinning room table and it's held together so far. Highly recommend if you have kids that like to build things.

Complicated and fragile
The media could not be loaded. The directions were not very clear and the pieces are quite fragile. One of the photos shows a broken piece from the launcher. Additionally there are two separate manuals. One for the car and the other for the launcher. Also once installed, the wheels were wobbly. I’m not sure if it was because of the broken piece or the wobbly wheels but the car does not roll very far when launched. There were lots of extra rubber bands but not really any extra parts for the launcher so I can’t test with an unbroken piece. I was quite careful when separating the pieces so I’m going to guess a 6 year old would have more broken pieces. The pieces feel like cardboard and not wood as the description says.I do love a puzzle so despite the quality of the final result, I liked putting it together.
