Best rice ever, I'm ordering again!
Very pleased to find this back in stock again, last time I checked they were out and I was so disappointed. If you're not familiar with Carnaroli rice versus Arborio for risotto, then talk to any genuine Italian chef, it really is the absolute best for risotto, in both texture and flavor. It's not always easy to source outside Italy as it's not mass produced, and this is very good value compared to the others I found. I have waited until now before reviewing, because I was a little hesitant on arrival and wanted to forewarn others that it's in completely plain packaging with zero labeling. It's literally 10lb of rice poured into a plastic bag, put inside a plain box and shipped! I guess that's why it's better value, and I'm fine with that now, I trust this seller and expect the same quality next time around. One final note to those who mentioned bugs - for those of us who eat almost exclusively organic food, (real food), we know to always put rice (and flour) into the freezer for 24-48 hours prior to bringing it into the food pantry. Otherwise you can get pantry moths (nightmare). I then decant into glass Mason jars with air tight lids. So the fact I'm not paying for fancy packaging that would anyway go straight in the trash is a bonus. As to origin, I'm pretty sure it's coming from Italy and I'm good with that, because anything that comes from there is Glyphosate / GMO free as Monsanto is banned Italy, so I'm good. I'm VERY picky and cook everything from scratch. Hope this helps someone!

Great for Risotto
For years I've been using arborio rice for my risotto. I read somewhere that the carnaroli rice variety is longer grained and creamier so I purchased some to try. Now I believe great risotto is as much a product of technique as it is ingredients and I have not yet identically prepared and compared arborio with carnaroli side by side blind (I'm a 40-year veteran winemaker - blind is how we evaluate wines) the carnaroli is at least as good as the arborio. So, without a clinical equal preparation and blind tasting, my preference for arborio or carnaroli comes down to availability and price. If I someday have that equal prep and blind tasting, I will update my review.

Seems legit!!
Haven’t cooked with it yet, but after comparing to some Arborio rice and some high end carnaroli rice I had, it seems genuine. Found a pumpkin seed or something in it, for some reason.

Had Bugs
Opened up the bag and proceeded to make risotto. Found a tiny beetle about half way through the cooking process. Order at your own risk.
