6050BL Roof Vent, 50 Square Inch, Black

Installed in less than an hour. I was amazed at how much pressurized HOT air came out of the hole when I cut it. That reaffirmed my decision to purchase and install this vent. I recommend installing several. Possibly 2-4 vents for a 2000 sq ft home that has attic space. That is just based on my opinion as a tradesman. I am not a roofer.The vent is plastic, yet durable. Its light weight and designed well. No critters or bugs can get in, but allows air to move freely. Its also paintable. It seems that it will provide trouble free/maintenance free service for the life of your roof. I can't see any reason why it would leak. The vent cap offset is plenty deep to keep rain out. That also is just my opinion.Very reasonably priced considering the dramatic effect it can have on your energy bills.I used a tube of Henry's in a caulking gun, some galvanized deck screws, a drill bit to cut center hole to accomodate the sawsall blade, a sawsall with an aggressive wood blade that had a thin tapered tip that would fit into the hole I drilled, a small stick of wood for manipulating the Henry's goo, safety glasses and nitrile gloves (Henry's is very messy!)Triple check all your measurements and try using chalk to make your marks.The whole install can be done on the rooftop. You dont need to do anything from the inside of your house except to check your pilot center hole to make sure you are clear of the roof joists/obstructions before you cut the big hole. If you miss or change your mind, you can just squirt some Henry's in the drill hole, measure and try again. That is much easier than patching a big hole!If you haven't installed roof fittings before, ask a handy friend to lend a hand. Making cuts in the right spot is critical.The upper and sides of the vent flange should be tucked under the shingles and the lower edge of the flange rides on top of the shingles. You may have to pry them up with a flat bar, and pull a nail or two to make that happen. Be sure to apply Henry's UNDER the flange, as best you can, and not just on the top and edges.Best done in cooler weather for many reasons. One being that the goo that seals your rows of shingles on an asphalt roof releases easier in cooler weather. I did mine in hot weather and it was fine.With a little research like online online videos(YouTube maybe?), an average home owner with some DIY will/skill can get this installed quickly without major problems.I highly recommend this roof vent for build quality, price, function and ease of install. Vent is lightweight low quality plastic. Item packaged in a box to small for the vent causing the edges to have a permanent curl. Had to heat the vent to flatten edge so it sat flush on the roof.

This would be a fine vent for an out building , but not on my house. cheaply made for the price .

Worked well and easy to install.

Just the size needed for my pump house in my hot Florida sun. Installed easily after cutting a hole through the plywood roof and removing the roof tiles as needed. If you have basic building skills you would have no problem installing this vent. Before this I had to open the pump house door to allow air to flow and keep the pump controller fan from running too long, now all is well.

Install went as expected. Product seems stout.
