Long term review - I owned mine 11+ years
This backpack sprayer did very well and obviously lasted. Do keep in mine I have used it residentially for this entire time which translates to 8-12 times a year- primarily during the summer months to sprayer roundup on weeds. The pump mechanism works well, basically if you are walking around spraying continuously you need to keep pumping the handle. The straps could be more cushioned because when the unit is full it is quite heavy. The nozzle adjusts spray easily for the amount of product you want coming out. Eventually it formed a crack in the base near where the straps are connected which then started to leak. I do leave this sprayer in a detached garage so it is subject to temperature fluctuations. If it didn't spring a leak I would have continued to use it - everything else works fine still.

Great Value
I purchased this sprayer to complement my Solo sprayer that is used exclusively for herbicides. I have been pleased with my purchase. The sprayer balances nicely on my back and the weight is evenly distributed. The pump mechanism is smooth and easy to operate. The nozzle produces nice patterns and seems to "drip" less that other sprayers I have used. I have two annoyances about the sprayer: 1) the retention devices that hold the straps to the frame make me nervous. They don't seem substantial, and they have come unattached one time while trying to put the sprayer on my back. Now I find a surface that I place the filled sprayer on so that I can put the sprayer on without having to lift it by the straps; 2) the lid can leak if you jostle the sprayer too much. That could very disturbing, depending upon what you have in the sprayer. All things considered, the sprayer is a good value and I would buy it again.

It was super easy to assemble
I received this sprayer very promptly. Everything was as described. It was super easy to assemble. The parts seem to be of high quality. I have a large 2/3rds of an acre property, and it is a lot of property to keep up. Our large back yard is mostly lawn, but a huge amount of our front yard is driveway and gravel. The weeds are always hard to stay on top of, but this year they have been getting away from me. My little pump weed sprayer would take me hours and hours and hours to spray the whole yard. I put his sprayer together and added the fan spray tip. There are a few different tips to choose from. The pressure is good, and pretty easy to keep ahead of with the arm pump. I refilled the pack 4 times, and felt like the weight distribution was good. It didn't feel too heavy for me. I am a 5' 10" woman. I would buy this pump again. I hope the seals stay strong and don't leak in the future. It only took me 2 hours this morning to spray my entire yard. I saved myself easily 4-5 times the amount of time I used to spend. I would say buy this one!UPDATE: i’ve Been heavily using this sprayer for my own yard (we moved and now it’s an acre instead of 2/3) my boys do yard work professionally. Well as professionally as a 12 & 16 yr old get. Lol. But an additional wear on the unit for sure! It leaked a little at the end of last season and finally at the end of this season, the seals have quit me... solid investment at $70-75 bucks! Now I just have to decide whether to buy a new unit or just replace the seals ??? I’ll try and update again once I decide and see how that works out

DON'T USE VINEGAR!
Last year I purchased this unit to spray vinegar on weeds. It worked great. This year when I went to use it again the seal on the lid was swolen and expanded so that it no longer fits on the sprayer. Noting the 2-year warranty I called Chapin to get a new gasket and was immediately told that I destroyed my sprayer by using vinegar in it. Apparently model 60105 was designed with special seals for use with Vinegar but this model (61800) WAS NOT. Unfortunately, there is nothing in the description that says not to use vinegar in the 61800 sprayer. Looking at the owner's manual there is a generic warning not to use "caustic, acidic, chlorine, bleach or other corrosive solutions". So, you can't use acidic or basic solutions -- but there is no indication of degree of PH that is a problem so you basically can't use anything in it?In addition to this unclear labeling problem, the initial manufacturing quality was poor as the red lid did not fit correctly onto the white/translucent plastic body. I was able to force it on and work past this inconvenience but after one year, the gasket that goes between the lid and the filter basket expanded/swelled to the point that it does not fit inside the lid. I consider this to be a defective product and the company is not willing to honor its warranty. I called them to give them another opportunity to replace the product but they refused.

Great system on flaw
Only flaw is the handle once assembled sticks out so stowage becomes a bit of a challenge. Wish it stowed in and upright position, however I understand why. I think a detent release on the handle fir storage would fix this problem. Otherwise it’s a great addition to the shed
