Garage Door Cable Drums
Great price for replacement garage door cable drums. The wire slot in the cable drum for retaining the cable end (swage) had a better fit for the retaining swage. Cost was great.

These cable drums are working great and reasonably priced. My only concern is how will they hold up. They aren't quite as robust as the original ones. Still happy with the purchase.

Exact match for existing door - but be careful!
Had to replace one side of my garage's cable drums because the original was slipping and could not be tightened. Not a trivial job because you have to be super careful of the high tension these are under on a garage door. I watched a couple videos to ensure I remembered how to do this safely - highly recommended. I ended up replacing both ends of my garage since these come in pairs. The locking nut on the original drum was stripped out because it had been overtightened. So be sure to read the instructions and avoid the temptation to crank down too hard when tightening. Note - also check your cables beforehand, while you have this taken apart you might as well put new cables on if the old ones are frayed or worn.

Works well for what they are
I am a musician, and I'm always looking to get new sounds to use in my music. I'd never heard of these drums before, and they were pretty cheap for a drum set so I bought them.They do not make music well. Very tinny is tone and tinnation.These do work great for garage doors, so I built a garage and put in a new door just so I didn't waste money. Now I get to listen to them squeal whenever I put the door up or down.I might use that sound in my next song.

I only write reviews that are 5y into the product or older. I mean anything with a little bit of dedication and love can be designed to last some time and be quite a good product. This is one such product and it is still functioning properly.Still works in 2025 and a good grade material with no issues.
