A blasphemous tome
This game really is a spiked flail to the face! Light on rules and fricken heavy on atmosphere. (And metal) Great art and style. It's a morbidly beautiful work.Bring a dark sense of humor and you'll be fine. I promise. Seriously though.

I can appreciate the sentiment now and again.
This new revival game has less of a high-brow pretentiousness to it than some and leans into the death metal vibe. I get that this slim volume is in the spirit of fandom - horror movies, popcorn, Saturday night at the drive-in, gorehounds barking at the bloody moon amidst a pile of corpses. I guess I can see the appeal from the fan’s perspective. I will say that a lot of the OSR stuff to me is too self-conscious and artsy to really be in the spirit of old school, which if you talk to any true grognard was never planned or thought out but simply in the vein of ‘take all and kill all everything.’ We had fun is what I’m saying. This game I can see as being fun in a certain sadomasochistic kind of way that is a little too overt for me personally, but nonetheless I can appreciate the sentiment now and again.

Classic RPG Fun
This game is so much fun. Had several sessions with my group and everyone loves it. Don't get to attached to any character as every session has had a HUGE PC body count. It's not if your character is going to die but how that counts. Fast wacky and fun a great filler game when someone cancels on the main campaign night. Would recommend to any gamer group.

Disgustingly beautiful book.
Haven't had a chance to play but the art alone made this book worth buying. I've never had so much fun reading a rule book, I couldn't put it down. Really looking forward to subjecting my friends to this badass RPG.

a Rules Lite Doom Metal Inspired RPG
the hardcover, I LOVE IT! from my collection of different colors of reds, blues, black, and green, even white, the neon yellow stands out really well. the art is really cool, something you'd see in Black Metal and/or Doom Metal album covers.the rules as I mentioned in the title, the game is light on rules, even character creation is super easy, so you'll have your doomed character ready to go.the lore is enough to give you an idea of what the world is, which is a doomed world, an apocalypse is looming, if you're running a campaign, it gives you rules on how many days until the apocalypse, and if you really want to go all-in on the apocalypse, you burn the book (I wouldn't do it, the book is too amazing to do that).when it comes to rules-lite OSR (Old School Renaissance) games, it is up to the dm to make calls and checks, it's all about role-playing, yet ease of play, so for those that are used to D&D & PF to have a rule for everything, it'll be weird at first, and might turn some people off due to lack of rules.if you're an old-school gamer that is used to dm makes the call and ruling, and want something that literally gives you bands to listen to for inspiration, this is the game to run a Doom metal RPG game.

Artwork
The artwork is so freaking cool! It is a mixture of goth and hard metal which is super cool

Art takes precedence over function, but that's the point
Is it a great RPG system? Not really. It is, however, one of the most evocative and creative RPG books you'll find.
