DEWALT Rotary Laser Level Kit, Indoor/Outdoor Survey Laser Transit (DW074KD)

I purchased this set up YEARS ago, and it has been "through the wringer", as they say. One tough ombre, for sure, and if I needed another one on the job site, I would get the latest version of the same DeWalt Laser Level that I purchased over a decade ago.It's THAT Great of a tool.!.!.!

I bought this and put it right to work.I use it on the average, once a week..The batteries (2 D batteries) it came with, didn't last an hour. Once I put new energizers in it, I haven't had to change them yet. It's been over a month. I originally had a DeWalt manual level laser. When it went bad I called a DeWalt service center, he advise me "off the record" to buy this one. It was "the best bang for the buck". I paid $380.00. To fix my old one it would have been $200.00. And this new one is auto level!When you turn this baby on, you can hear the gears spinning/leveling for about 3-5 seconds, then voala! I tested it out of level as well. If it's knocked out of level, it stops, re-levels and then continues. The only problem this posses, is if it's knocked too far off, and you don't notice, you might throw all your new measurements off because it won't have the same zero as your original mark... Anyway, over all, a big fat 5! Saves tons more time over the old one, and I actually have learned to like the D batteries over the rechargeables due to not having to worry about extra charged batteries. The energizer D batts are the way to go!

I purchased this for a job to build a pole garage. I'm always skeptical of anything laser, so I still run levels and double check the laser often. This laser was within 1/8-1/4 inch at 25', but it was due to the transmitter having too much play between where it finds the beam and where the beam actually hits the center mark on it.I really like this for unit for cutting post tops even with one another and setting very long beams, that can't be adjusted after being raised and set.Having the wall bracket allowed me to mount this unit on my posts and forgoing the tripod for most of the job. It even allowed me to set all my siding at the same height all around the parameter.I will never give up my levels and I will never fully trust a rotary laser to the accuracy I expect, but for rough framing, it comes very close to being perfect.As for the unit itself, I purchased this one over many other's because, of it's simplicity and two button operation. I functioned all these years without one, and did very well, so this just enhances my ability to work alone and have another way to get things level and plumb.The feature I love the most- being able to use regular D batteries and not having to worry about using my Dewalt batteries on this unit.Overall, it's a very basic unit that us middle age carpenters love due to the straight-forwardness and ease of use.

The media could not be loaded. Pictures clearly show kit including tripod and level rod - pictures of laser attached to tripod, pictures showing content with tripod and leveling rod but they are not included with this kit. I have thousands of dollars worth of Dewalt products and am absolutely shocked by this deceptive practice. There is no reason to have photos showing the kit with items not included except to mislead customers. Take a stand and do not buy this.

Bought this to setup my hoists and ended up using it for the first time shooting grade for concrete forms. Very nice

Used it to level out a pad I was building. First time ever using one and got it done with no issue. Very easy to learn and use.

I have a regular transit and I haven't checked to see how level this thing really levels itself yet, but for everything I've had to do it has work fantastic, it works just like it should.I'm not an engineer so I don't know what kind of sophisticated electronic engineering went into this bad boy, it seems like it might be overpriced, but it does exactly what I want it to do, and it was the most affordable one I could find that I might actually trust to do the job.It levels itself in seconds and starts spinning.In the daylight I can't see the laser, but the included sensor picks up the line just fine, and the beep is loud enough to hear fine over the sound of a running backhoe. (its pretty darn loud)Works fine inside a building, wish it had a remote to turn it on and off.

Lightweight, portable, accurate, reasonably priced. Carrying case works well. I've used heavy duty rotary lasers that were very expensive. This one is plastic and not as tough but will do the job just as well as the pricey ones. Just be careful not to drop it and keep it very clean. Should last forever. Runs on D batteries which is great. Used it to set forms and grade footings on several jobs so far and it has worked out well. Price is reasonable.
