Basically, stainless steel will remove a number of bad smells from your hands when you rub in your hands under water. The only question is what shape bar you will choose and how much you're going to pay for it. I like this product because it's large enough to rub all over your hands with little effort, and is inexpensive yet sturdy. There are currently faddish stainless steel products that try to dupe you into thinking their particular product is a breakthrough. Rubbish. This one is inexpensive and works fine. If you prefer soap-shaped stainless steel, get that one. There is also a tear-drop shaped one. If you like that shape best, get it. Just don't pay a lot of money for any single product. Stainless steel is stainless steel.

Got this as a gift for my boyfriend because there is no worse smell than the after scent of a hockey players glove sweat.He would scrub his hands for half an hour sometimes using all different kinds of soaps, even sugar scrubs, nothing worked. So I won't lie, I really didn't think this would work either. I'm SO glad we tried it out though. He washed his hands with this and warm water for about 30 seconds and I SWEAR you would not even know he had just spent hours on the ice!!!Side note; sometimes there is a faint "metal" scent left behind, depending on how long you scrub or how bad the smell was before. However, this is easily fixed by just washing your hands with your normal soap quickly after!*** Update - I got this back in 2012, and it's still working strong!!

This stainless steel soap was purchased as a gift so I have not tested it out yet. [...] The soap itself is much lighter than I expected and I'm wondering if it's hollow.

My fiancé works in an Italian restaurant and the garlic scent he emits every night is practically nauseating. I honestly bought this more for my own sake than for his. I was so excited for him to try it out. I had really, really high expectations from these other reviews. Maybe that's why I was slightly disappointed when he still had a hint of garlic even after scrubbing for a while with this thing. I can't say it didn't work at all because it definitely did take a majority of the smell away, but I can still faintly smell that damn garlic. I swear it has soaked all the way to his freaking dermis. Anyway, I am impressed with what it does but I was expecting to be left with no smell at all. So 4 stars!

This works like a charm. I cook with onions and garlic almost every day. Soap alone doesn't get the smell off my hands. I use a drop or two of liquid hand soap and then pick up this bar and use as if it were a bar of soap. I don't understand the scientific principal but the oder disappears. Years ago a former neighbor used to soap her hands and rub them repeatedly across the bottom of her stainless steel sink to remove the garlic odor. My snow is porcelain so this bar is perfect. Nice size for my smaller hands as well.

Does not take out odors

I use this after chopping garlic or onions and it takes the odor out right away! I like that it's very small compared to many on the market. All you have to do is rub in under some water like a soap bar and in a few seconds your hands will smell clean again! It's amazing!

I bought it to get rid of hockey gloves smell on my hands... It might lessen it somewhat but it absolutely doesn't get rid of it completely.
