Great 8-frame bee box, durable
I have now purchase two of these. I consider Hoover to be Grade A quality .vs BeeCastle which I also have but consider to be of lesser quality or Grade B.They are made of good quality materials, and all wood parts are covered with a thick coating of beeswax. The nails and screws are of good quality and they go together easy, and smell great to.After sitting outside for two years (my first box) it still looks good and had a good protective coating intact.I suggest using a heat gun or blow drier when assembling (or do on a hot day) to make assembly easier. I used a rubber mallet to tap dovetails into place.

Super quality
Great 8 frame...good quality materials, precision parts...I hate it when "Nicky new guy" complains about obvious things that anyone informed knows about...they sell hives, not a comprehensive course on putting bee hives components together...you tube has an abundance of that....I've already ordered another hive from them to have some extra boxes etc for my other hives...I like the 8 frames because it's a bit easier for an old guy to manage when filled up...plus at our elevation and climate in the rockies I've been recommended to use this size...we have 6 of these hives from galena now...very happy!

Good box
This product showed a break down of hive in the pictures provided with add. It showed a screened bottom. Mine did not come with a screened bottom. The parts list did not show a screened bottom. Don't think you are getting a screened bottom. Just don't want anyone to make the same mistake. ( important in very hot climates)Overall seems like a good product. Wax dipping is thick and even. I would also recommend pre-drilling holes for the nails or you can substitute for stainless screws. I drilled a very small hole first then nailed. Worked out great. First nail I tried before pre-drill split the wood. I will be looking at buying another one in a few months for a backup. Shipping was also quick and everything in order.

Easy For The Non Handiman Inclined/Concerned with durability
The shipping was fast and assembly was simply, I did crack my super because of user error, I should have removed some of the wax on the connecting dovetail joints but everything fit like a glove and I have my bees on the way unless I catch a feral hive first, lol! I am buying several more hives some I will make several purchases in the next few months. I also love all of the extra gear that came with it, I loved the mouse excluder because we have open fields and I was afraid some of the mice would be a problem, great great add to the product.Update 4 months later - (07/27/21)The hive has seemed to stain and warp, I have it lifted up on pallets, to keep them dry, Inhave included pictures. The frames come apart and Ibhave assembled per instructions, I then had to modify frame because they will not hold weight. I would bring my rating down to 3.5. I genuinely like everything during the purchasing process and I am concerned my hive will not last 10+ years.

It’s the manufacturer’s job to make sure the parts fit!
I was so excited about the box, since I like puzzles this was going to be a 3-D puzzle. I start assembling and immediately noticed the puzzle pieces do not fit together. The beeswax filled the grooves which made them to large for their counterparts. I had to scrape off each individual panel groove as well as the notches, to force it together. When the 1st box was assembled, all four corners did not rest on the floor, so it rocked-not a lot, but, nevertheless it rocked. The plastic inserts for the frame was even worse. The first frame fit together well and that’s where it stopped. The next two plastic sheets were too small to stay in place and the frames themselves did not fit together to hold them in place. That’s when I gave up. The quality of the material was also questionable. Although fir is basically the same as pine, there were hairline cracks in some of the pieces, mainly the frames, which meant it was not expected to last long. Not a good product.

Very well made. Tight tolerances maintened though out.
I'm a novice bee keeper and this was my first experience assembling a Langstrom hive. The dovetail joints were challenging until I realized all I needed to do was soften the wax coating. Then the boxes just slipped together. I used screws on the dovetail joints rather than nails. I drilled, glued and nailed the frames together. No problems, no split wood. The whole assembly process took a little over 3 hours working alone. When the time comes to expand I will definitely stick with Hoover Hives again.

Great quality beehive
Great quality, dovetails are cut precise. Easy to put together with a mallet. The whole box is coated with a layer of beeswax which makes it resistant to the elements. Inside frames are very easy to assemble and put together with provided nails. Just make sure to pre drill all the nail holes as to avoid splitting the wood.
