Rectorseal 83113 EZ 113 Trap, 3/4-Inch

I saw this when I was looking for traps to replace the clogged trap that was installed correctly but had no access for any type of clean out or maintenance. Consequently I'd been using a 5 gallon bucket to catch the condensation until I got everything I needed to replace it. Not something I would recommend but it worked in a pinch and it gave me a new appreciation for how much moisture the air handler or the condenser or whatever takes out of the air every 24 hours. It's been very humid here the last few days and I'd been emptying the bucket once a day with about three or four gallons of water in it. Anyway, this Rectorseal trap was just what I needed as I had to retrofit it in between the two lines. It's adjustable of course until you permanently glue it in place so it was very easy to fit to both sides that were stationary. Of course I have some plumbing experience but even if you don't if you take your time it's easy to fit and the added plus is you have the many different cleanouts. If you look in the photo you can see that I've added two rubbers slip joints that can also be removed so the entire assembly can come out for future cleaning. I've decided that the best bet is to do maintenance on it once a year and make sure the lines are clear so that condensation can flow out. If you forget about it it will build up and eventually start to form clogs which will make the condensation back up and you'll have quite a mess. This seems to be working quite well so far after a day or two with no leaks and a good water flow out of the house. I definitely recommend this particular trap if you want a way to clean out and maintain your condensation line.

This one purchase fixed my issue immediately. I kept on trying to cheap out on buying this because I thought I could do it cheaper with my own design, but this literally would have saved me ten to fifteen hours of scratching my head of why my fixes weren’t working. Just spend the money and buy this is you are having overflowing issues with your HVAC system. Chances are that you need this. Wish I bought it sooner.

I've had the AC technicians to my house so many times to figure out why the AC water drain was backing up. They'd tell me the plumbing didn't have enough of a gradient to it and that was they problem. So I had the plumbing redone. It still didn't stop the AC water overflows, which result in the AC shutting off. After opening the pipes myself I realized there was a very strong suction back towards the AC unit. This was strong enough to suck the water back into the unit that should have been draining. (To be fair, that might have not happened with a steeper slope on the drain pipes.) They might have been partial right, but after some research I found out about this device. The U shape filled with water is enough to stop the suction from pulling water back into the AC unit. The full water in the U curve stops the air inflow. Then as water trickles in gravity takes over and it drips out the drain pipe.Ingenious device. Easy to install. I can't believe professional AC technicians from 2 different companies didn't know to put one of these in. They sell a version of these at hardware stores, but this one is much better. Easier to work with. The fact that it is clear and has valves you can open means you can see if it is clogging up and easily open it for cleaning. Get this one. I don't think I'll have to touch the AC unit again.

So first off ,very well made product ,not flimsy pretty solid. At first thought get by with only sealing the transparent trap with magic lube plumb sealer ,didn't work it dripped, so i sealed with PVC glue , fine no more leaks, anyway if your AHU is in garage , and ours , 4 ton outside unit, is in South U.S. hot all year round the clear tube will need to be wrapped with insulation ,as it will sweat, the condensate water was very cold, the garage is 87 F. temp. kinda defeat the purpose of being visible to see the the liquid, as it needed to be insulated to stop the sweating and dripping on garage floor, But that's on me, didn't consider it. It should make it easier to clean the pvc drain in the future

The media could not be loaded. Using this for the condensation drain on my 4 ton heat pump. The heat exchanger is on the bottom of the air handler, so the drain pulls in vacuum when the system is on. So far the p-trap is holding the negative pressure perfectly when the system is running. No leaks - obviously you must glue the u-pipe in place to prevent leaks, just like with your PVC pipes. I like it.

An older installation had a P trap made from PVC but trap was way below drain. I replaced everything with this P trap following youtube video and fitted new pvc drain lines. Stopped gurgling noise.

This rocks! Super easy, and combine with a flush out hose connector, the whole line can be cleaned in 10mins! We’ll worth the price to have a well functioning P-trapPer the leaks, non if you glue it like normal pvc pipes. Once I got it all set, glue the transparent part on first upside down so glue will pool & seal slightly at each joint. Plus keeps purple primer from sliding down into the clear area.
