This is a pretty nice compass…
The package arrived on time and undamaged...This is a real honker! Lol! It seems quite sturdy and heavy too. I like the incline device that folds up on the left side; the little “telescope” on the bottom is a nice idea. I have a very expensive compass that I know is right on to magnetic north — this one matches perfectly. All in all, I really like it; if I had to find a negative point, I’d think it would be the compass's weight. 🤷♂️ If you're looking to travel light, you may want to pick another compass. I spent time as a Navy Hospital Corpsman (it's like a medic) for the 2nd Marine Division in the '70s, and we liked to shed weight as much as possible. I wouldn't take this on an extended hump for 15 miles; otherwise, it's great!

Well Made and Accurate
I received these compasses very fast. They appear to be made very well and seem to be very rugged. They are aluminum and not plastic and when I compare them to other compasses, they redirection accurately. The only item that could be improved is the phosphorus paint used on the needle for nighttime use could be a little brighter or stronger. Other than that, I would trust them in the backcountry without a thought.

Best compass ive owned.
This compass is the highest quality compass ive owned as far as durability, free and smooth accurate needle rotation. The clinometer is an invaluable tool as well. Excellent value, just know it is a bit heavy for a compass but i still give it 5 stars.

Great for Field or Planning
Excellent compass, despite so many negative reviews, but one must keep in mind that No Compass Needle Points North.A compass needle points to Magnetic North. To know True North, check the Magnetic Declination for your area. Where I am, it's 13⁰West. Knowing this, I took it outside on a clear night, lined it up with Polaris, and...TA DAH!, the needle was pointing 13⁰West of the North Star.I'd say that's pretty accurate. Dead on, in fact. The Attitude Indicator scale is a nice little extra, and if you learn the formulae (included in the instructions and molded into the case), you can determine approximate Range and Elevation.Overall, if you're looking for an accurate field compass, or one for orienteering, This. Is. It.

US Army Land Navigation Instructor Review
Got some weight to it. Case is metal. Good feel to it. Smooth compass card operational movement.Light chargeable Phosphorescent works great! However, when aligning the compass to exactly North, the rear site shows more than 180. Are the digits printed on the compass card accurate or is the front slotted site a bit off? Would expect the grid lines to be parallel exactly when facing exactly magnetic North. Seems to me the outer digits to be out of alingnment about half a degree. But...for $20, what did you expect? Half a degree is neglible for short treks. Half a degree on the US Army Special Forces Star shaped land nav course would spell disaster.
