Does this fit a full 2.2 cubic foot bag of peat moss?

Great question! Technically, the spreader holds 2.7 cubic feet. However, those bags are packed tight! Once you start unloading the bag and it breaks up a bit, it expands. Realistically, you have to fill the spreader 1.5 - 2 times on aveage to use the entire 2.2 cubic foot bag. I hope this helps! Thank you! -Andrew Landzie

I live in horse country Florida and composted horse manure is abundant. Would this be able to handle the “chunks” that are still in the compost?

YES, I have used it to spread peat, compost & manure. I added about a dozen baseball sized rocks to aid in breakup of materials, albeit helpful, that wasn't mandatory. Manufacturer says, it leaves 1/8 inch of material, and I agree with that estimate. Want thicker spread, then use multiple passes for until thicker coverage meets desired coverage.
