Great way to retain use of my Z-5500!
UPDATE: After experiencing some unsatisfactory results with my W11 upgrade, I decided to roll back to 10. The volume is back to 2 bars just like it was with 8.1, so I added a 5th star to this review. After "upgrading" to newer hardware, I was missing my Dolby surround sound card that fed my Logitech Z-5500 for the last 20 years or so. The newer PC I migrated to only has a 3.5mm external jack, so there's no way I could plug directly into the Logitech. This adapter seems to work just fine, and since I no longer use my PC as a HTPC, I won't miss the surround setup at all. I do believe that there's some loss of volume though in the transition from analog to digital, as previously 2 bars on the Logitech display was plenty loud enough. With this adapter, I have to have it set a 4 to get the equivalent volume, even with Windows set at it's max.

Nice workaround for turntable to Sonos Playbar
Sonos only has a handful of products that utilize aux in plugs so that you can connect devices, like the Play 5. I have a Playbar and wanted to find out how to connect my old 1973 turntable to my playbar and take advantage of the sub, rears, and everything my Sonos system has. After scouring Reddit, I came across this device, which runs an aux cord through this adapter from the turntable, and runs an optical cord out of this device to the Playbar. There is a slight delay in sound from when the needle hits the turntable, but overall it's a good, quick, cheap workaround. I dont know how this compares to official Sonos products compatible with Aux cords in terms of sound quality, but this is a decent solution.

Works great
My old TV didn't have an optical audio just RCA jacks so this allowed me to convert the RCA signal to optical for my speaker bar

Terrible sound quality
Terrible sound quality. I have a soundbar which works very well with my TV and a turntable that sounds excellent with other speakers. When I connect the turntable to the soundbar using this converter there is a lot of noise and I have immediately returned the converter. I recommend you do not buy it.

Works great. Cords could be longer.
I needed something to convert an analog signal from my computer to an optical signal for my sound bar. The sound bar only comes on automatically when there is an optical input. this device does what it says it will do. My only complaint is the cords provided (optical cable and ac cord) are pretty short which limits your options for where you want to place the device.

Works but not perfect
I like it that you can use your sound bar but in my case only the external speaker works and not the sound bar itself. I have followed the instructions and still doesn’t work. I have checked all the settings on the tv and adjusted them per instructions. I don’t think there is a good way to convert analog to digital optical.

Works with Roku Streambar
Works with Roku Streambar to tv without hdmi/arc or optical. Plugs into the white and red audio on tv to converter box, then use the optical cable from Streambar to connect it to converter box and plug the power cord in. It was easy setup. I searched for weeks to find something and finally found someone’s review on here. Thanks to whoever left the review. I’m happy now.

Nice unit that passes signal from RCA inputs to digital audio output (Toslink)
So I wanted to connect my old VCR and Laserdisc to my A/V receiver. But the Receiver (Onkyo) does not allow me to connect both... limited connections for the legacy tech... So I used this to transform the L/R RCA outs to digital, then connected the Toslink to a switching unit along with the digital out from the Laserdisc player then connected the output from the switch to receiver. worked great .
