A wonderful insight to prayer! This calm and peaceful literature will be a blessing to all. If your struggling with prayer and really want to have effective heartfelt communing with God through Jesus this is the help and inspiration you'll need. This isn't a book of pomp or bravado prayer tactics, it's for the humble.

Truly gifted writer expound on the virtues of a serious man that prayers. I would highly recommend this book to read.

I have just finished reading this book and find myself already a changed man. The product itself is certainly appealing with a Classic Hardcover look and tight binding. The prose is eloquent yet perfectly comprehensible to those that read regularly - one need not fear a King James style.But beyond these cosmetic descriptives, you might use the words of E.M. Bounds as I did, for my morning devotion time. No matter what method you currently have for your personal bible study, these profound words cannot help but plant deep within your soul an irresistible urge to pray to God.This is no book of formulas or ritual. Bounds here will state plainly, and in varied form, why we ought pray, and why praying must be the mark of mature Christians - by providing many evidences of past great followers of Christ.Bounds is insistent about the requirement and urgency of prayer in our lives. He describes many places of prayer in Scripture and its results. He also informs us about false, cheap or empty praying. Without implying that we ought to spend hours talking to God, it could be asked what might be more natural than conversing with our Father. This book should become a motivation to any Christian to become serious about maturing in their prayer and spiritual maturity. Simply take his lead at the end of each chapter - and talk to God!

I love E. M. Bounds. He certainly put much time into this book. It is informative, very thought provoking, very deep! I can only read small portions at a time, to allow it to digest in my brain, heart and soul. This is not a book to speed read through, too many nuggets to appreciate. If you only have 2 books in your home, I recommend the Holy Bible, and this book!!!!

A must read

This book was recommended. Is a very philosophical study of prayer. Makes prayer too complicated.Is a Very thick, small print book.Pray is just talking to God. Is so easy, a child can do it.Why analyze talking and making it so hard?
