HIGHLY DECEPTIVE !!!
If you look at this item as displayed, {KitchenAid KSMFVSP Fruit and Vegetable Attachment Strainer, White & KSMFT Food Grinder Accessory, Fits KSMFGA, White} there are TWO choices for the order. One at$59 and change, and the other at $79 and change. READ THE FINE PRINT ! While the description for the $59 order states "Product 1: Model KSMFVSP includes (1) Strainer cone, (1) Strainer shield, (1) Splash lid, (1) Food pusher, (1) Removable tray" REMOVABLE TRAY !! I did not receive a removable tray with this item, the extra $20 that I ordered was the tray, NOT as I assumed was the grinder attachment. If I had realized this I would not have ordered the $79 choice. I did not receive two trays, but only one. VERY DECEPTIVE MARKETING PRACTICES !! I read all the reviews and thought I would give Kitchen Aid a chance, in spite of my better judgement. THIS COMPANY ENGAGES IN VERY, I REPEAT, VERY DECEPTIVE MARKETING PRACTICES !!! I will now have to fork over another amount of $$$ in order to get the grinder attachment. I am very disappointed and VERY leery of what I can expect in the future from this company and their products. READ the reviews, there is more than one negative review stating that the juice from the process destroyed or disabled the mixers.

If you can you need this
Great product, easy to use, I make a lot of spaghetti sauce and this helps me make it 5x fast then any other way, doesn't leak, great value, durable, easy to use, mesh is hard to clean but everything else is easy.

Could be better but does the job
I bought this 1.5 years ago after carefully reading the requirements for the other part of the assembly sold separately. Since then I have made gallons of sauces, mostly apple and pear sauces. It’s a workhorse and gets the job done. It also is very efficient at separating *all* the good from the bad. I grew up double processing (run the scrap through a second time) to get all the sauce out and that’s definitely unnecessary on this one. I do have microcracks forming on the plastic base of the cone and on the spiral and some slight staining where product contacts the white plastic so I’m guessing one or two more seasons maximum before it needs replaced, which is disappointing but I’ve made countless gallons of sauce in two seasons so I’m not the average user either. It’s plastic where metal would be a better choice for durability. I core and cook apples and tomatoes before I run them, and dead ripe pears can go through raw. The softer they are, the easier they process and coring the apples and pears minimized brown flecks in the finished sauce.

MUST HAVE THE FOOD GRINDER FOR FOOD STRAINER TO WORK.
Can not stress this enough: READ PRODUCT DETAILS OR OTHER REVIEWS BEFORE YOU PURCHASE! I didn't and like many other reviewers, I was surprised to find I needed the food grinder attachment. Once I finally had all the parts, it is fairly easy to assemble/attach all the pieces together. I then strained several quarts of Blackberries in virtually minutes. A couple things I discovered, 1) Don't pack the loading tube then try to push the product down into the grinder with the Plunger. Juice squeezes out where the loading tray connects to the grinder. Gently push down on the plunger or place the plunger in the hole and just let gravity do the work. The one I received was heavy enough to do that. There are other versions I saw that looked a lot lighter. 2) The straining cone can become clogged and if the food backs up inside the cone too much it will burst at the seam. Mine did not but I had read this in another review and could see how this could happen if you are not paying attention. 3.) Cleanup is a breeze, until you get to the straining cone. This takes a bit more work to get all the food pieces out of the holes. I also cleaned it before the berry bits dried on. Over all this was a good investment and has made me curious about the other attachments. One last thing, If I had known I needed both pieces I would have spent the extra $ and bought the metal versions as they are probably more durable.
