Fantastic Resource For Middle School/Highschool
I bought this book as a supplement as part of my spine guide for civics for my then 7th grade middle schooler. The book is engaging with enough visual interest and graphics to keep reader engaged. It presents the information in a very straightforward and engaging way. With reference to historical facts. The social issues that brought about the needs that structured the constitution, and how that questioning can be debated in present social issues, in addition to analytical questions. This book is great for engaging critical thinking, and understanding how the USA government works. Great for the classroom, homeschoolers and any adult. I think that every voting USA citizen should re-read a book like this, at least every 8 years of their life. Great book to have in your library, period.

Practical, Accessible and Extremely Engaging
I'm getting this for every young person in my life. From "Why Voting Matters" to "Supreme Court Cases Every Student Should Know" and "You and the Media," this is essential information all citizens should have in a form as easy to access, understand and apply as it is laid out here. The illustrations, charts, graphs, cartoons, timelines and historical photos give every page multiple entry points for all kinds of learners, and the application ideas will keep it relevant no matter when a student reads it. If I were teaching civics, I'd ditch my textbook and use this instead.

The American System... explained simply
A book about the differences on how the USA was designed and how that relates to the 21st century way of life. The author explains how things were designed and how some have gone off the rails when viewed through today's modern lens. It seems many citizens don't get why things are done the way they're done and the author does a good job explaining why. A must for all U.S. citizens... the smart ones out there will read it before giving an uninformed opinion!

Good Content and Well Written
My daughter is in 8th grade and she will be taking placement tests this Spring for her high school classes. We puchased this book to prepare for an American Government Placement test. The book presents content in an engaging way. The writing is intelligent and clear. Nice illustrations. I also like how key topics (such as freedom of speech) are written with examples that connect to the experiences of young people.

Since America’s school kids are not taught Civics anymore.
I got this for my Grandson. He’s very smart and I thought he’d like reading about how our government works. From what I understand, Civics is no longer taught in school.

Beware of left leaning biases .
I purchased this book looking for a refresher on civil government. What I found was an intro to civil government taught by a liberal professor who aimed to inject social justice propaganda (along with a anti-MAGA agenda) anywhere they could. Disappointed and immediately returned.
