Christmas present for the wife, this thing is pretty nice!
ALERT: My review is not so much about the tablet as it is about the OS and apps installed on it.As far as the tablet goes, its very clean and has a FANTASTIC display when compared to the old Tab 3 8" model its replacing and a really good-sounding Atmos surround system (minus any sign of bass, of course!). Unfortunately, this is a Samsung Galaxy product, and it must written somewhere that Samsung is required to load as much Google crap as they can onto every product they manufacture! After setting it up and screwing with it for 2+ WEEKS (thank goodness I bought it a full month before Christmas, I anticipated this happening), I finally said F#*% it and rooted the damned thing!!! Titanium Backup to the rescue!!!!!I froze almost 30 apps/services, most of it from Google stuff, and it now runs like a rocket! Battery life is great, with light/medium use it is lasting about 3 days on a single charge. With no use, sitting on my desk, it lasted 12 days without a charge and still had 18% battery life left. Before root, it would constantly "ding" at me to turn on this, register that, enter my info, log into something, update these apps, etc. After root I was now able to just wait for those few remaining pesky Google warnings to pop up, determine what app was whining and used Titanium backup to freeze it, or just turn off all notifications for that specific app, something Samsung does not allow you to do on 99% of the installed app without rooting the device, even though its possible for them to allow if they really wanted to. I guess all of this in the name of security--or more truful, less tech support requirements from Samsung.Bottom line here, at least for me, is that this tablet is wonderful, but only if you get rid of all the unnecessary garbage. I highly doubt there's too many folks using a 10 inch tablet to pay via google pay at checkout counters! Most of the time these tabs are used to play videos, watch youtube and browse the internet, and not one of the apps on the stock device does this without a bunch of nagging to register or update them!

Very nice tablet
I had an 8" Samsung that was getting a little old and tired, but I never had a real issue with it. I bought this 10" one and it is great. It is fast, has longer battery life, brighter screen and being able to get 64g is a super plus. Samsung has a great transfer process for all your apps and stuff. The instructions are confusing, but it works really well. Note: If you are upgrading from an older tablet, keep the old one to use for other stuff around the house. After the new one is up and running, reset the old one and only put the few apps that you might need on in it and use it for home cameras, alarm and automation. I have my old tablet mounted on the wall at eye level in the garage and permanently powered. I can check cameras, listen to music/news and watch how-to videos for projects. I can even watch sports on it via my Dish Anywhere service. It is also connected via BT to my garage stereo.

Great tablet
I've bought Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 64GB about half a year ago. I am using it mostly for reading books and playing games when waiting for kids during their activities, occasionally I shoot a photo or short video. Comparing to ipads (used by my kids), the galaxy tab has same good quality and features, but half the price and with android you get lots of free software. I have not had any issues with performance, plenty of memory storage, decent battery. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a tablet.

Nice Tablet - Worth the Money For Me Update to Android 11 is Available
Update 5/25/211. Just got updated to UI Core 3.1 Samsung's latest UI which includes Android 11. No problem with the update.2. Hopefully the update will improve battery discharge. While it isn't bad the Fire HD 10.1" seems to be better. Also battery charging takes noticeably longer than on the Fire HD 10.1.3. Found out it comes with McAfee mobile AV along with Google Play Protect. Not the best Android AV products but for what I use the tablet for they should be good enough and the price is right.First things first. No two people use a tablet exactly the same way. With that in mind this review is based upon how I use the tablet. Having said that here is how I use the tablet in order of usage1. Reading books. 85% All the books I read can be conveniently downloaded so I don't need WiFi access to read what I have already downloaded.2. Playing Music 5% either from apps, streaming live from radio stations or from the SD card I added.. I was able to use the SD card which I had in Fire 10". Did need to reformat it so I lost all the stuff I had on SD card. Since it all was in the Cloud I can easily download it again. The audio is more than adequate however, using a Bluetooth speaker enhances the quality of the sound. I would recommend using either earphones, earbuds or a Bluetooth speaker or speakers to listen to music and for watching some movies.3. Watching videos 5% As professional reviewers of Tab a7 have noted, the display is not great. It is adequate for watching videos especially those in Black and White but if you are picking about the display quality you won't be happy with the Tab a7. I haven't tried watching any movies from the web or a cloud drive. So I can't comment on whether there could be a buffering issue on watching those videos.4. Surfing the Net, email etc 5% Its okay but pages written with a lot of Java script will render a bit slow. Some general comments in no particular order1. The Virtual Keyboard. More than adequate if you don't do a lot of typing. If you do, getting a compatible keyboard would be better2. Apps. Using the Samsung Switch app I was easily able to transfer all the apps and Google data like saved passwords from my Pocophone without any problem, once I figured out how it worked. All the apps came over fine and all I needed to do was to organize them on the home screen.App store updates from the Play Store work fine and I was easily able to add some apps on the Tab a7 that I don't have on my Pocophone3. Security Play Store Protect works and there is other built in security. In any case I like Bitdefender Mobile which I have used for years on multiple Android devices. It installed fine and works good. I also use Adguard. Again, it installed fine and does what it says it will do.4. Initial setup A bit difficult as the display brightness defaults to 1? out of 100 during the initial setup making it a bit difficult to see things on the display. Once the initial setup is done you can manually set the display brightness or use the Adaptive Brightness feature.5. Android. It comes with Android 10 and the Samsung 2.5 UI. Word is Samsung has no plans to upgrade the Tab a7 to Android 11, but that could change. Android security updates are quarterly as opposed to monthly with evidently a four year promise.6. The Samsung 2.5 UI is very lacking compared to the Xiaomi 10.3 UI on my Pocophone also running Android 10. However it does include the basics in Settings depending on what one considers the basics. For example I haven't found a way to run dual apps which you can do on the Pocophone. With a larger display being able to have two apps side by side would be a nice feature.7. Microsoft apps and printing. All the Microsoft apps that I have tested on the Tab a7 and i use on my Pocophone have worked fine on the Tab a7 though I haven't tested all of them. I don't know if the Microsoft "Your Phone" app works on the Tab a7 though it works with a lot of Samsung phones. However the tab a7 does that the ability to connect to your phone and show and create text messages on Tab a7. So apparently you don't need a cellular on the Tab a7 to send text messages.I was able to easily able to set up printing and print a Word document on my HP printer. I printed it over WiFi.The Tab a7 has video calling and I would guess Teams and Zoom capability. Since I don't use any of those features I can't comment any further on them. For the money it is nice tablet for what I use it for. For me it is no big deal that it might not update to Android 11 as long as the security updates keep rolling out for the promised four years from the tablet's release date late in 2020. If I get three or four years of use out of the Tab a7 I will be happy with it.Four stars out five for me.

Premium Tablet with a Awesome Screen
This is the best tablet I have ever owned. The 10.4 inch touch screen is amazing and fast as lightning. Battery life is incredible, all day and then into the night. Great for karaoke and streaming blue tooth to the sound system. Wi Fi connects to my router easily. Price is only a small fraction of many lesser competing tablets. Touch screen keyboard make it easy to surf the internet.
