Can this game be used with regular Wii Remotes or is a Wii Motion Plus controller needed ?

Actually, it's all about the mini games that are in Nintendoland. Some of the mini games, such as the Zelda game, require the wii motion plus wiimote in order to play. If you don't have one of these controllers you will not be able to play that mini game or any of the others that also have this requirement. Therefore, without the motion plus controllers you won't have access to like a third of the game. Since I don't have any other games that require the motion plus, I never made the upgrade from the standard wiimotes, which has kept me from playing those parts of Nintendoland. I just don't see the point in paying for three more wiimote controllers just for this single game. Anyway, you DEFINITELY NEED them in order to play the entire game. The reviewer that said otherwise must have had a wii motion plus controller connected at the time when he was playing.

It is the same game. The Nintendo Selects are games that were best sellers and are now being re-released and sold at a lower price point.

Is this game compatible with a Wii?

No; any game that says Wii U on a blue background at the top is for Wii U only and will not play on any other system. Even if you have a system with backwards compatibility, which is increasingly rare, it only means that said system will play older games, not that the system before it will play the newer ones. (For Example, Wii U does have backwards compatibility, meaning it will play Wii games, but the Wii will not play Wii U games. -Wii U will not play Gamecube games as Wii did, however.)
