Bad Quality Assurance
This is a very poor quality adapter. I ordered two months ago and yesterday for first time tried to use it. It does NOT WORK! Very disappointing. Return window closed 6 days ago so I cannot send it back. Bad quality and bad customer service. Go somewhere else for this product!

Works great
I couldn’t figure out how to make it work at first but I found another review that said you have to plug in the HDMI cable and charger first before you plug it into the phone. I tried that and it works just fine! No issues at all and didn’t need to download an app or anything like that.

May be a spoof. No brand name or logo. Item does not work.
Just received this item. The Amazon description says it is Apple certified, but that may be a spoof. When I connected this adapter to an HD TV, it reports "mode not supported." When connected to a computer monitor, it simply doesn't work at all. (I have used my iPad to connect to this TV, using this cable many times. I simply left my adapter at my Mom's house and was trying to replace it (without having to purchase the one from the Apple Store.) This item may be a spoof, it has no logo or brand name on it, or on its (badly spelled) documentation. The documentation had a QR code that tried to get me download "Drong Cast" by Goodsleep Ltd. However, the reviews in the App store say this program does not work. So, all things told, this is a complete bust, and I am returning the item. Apple Store sells a working adapter for $49— which I have now ordered. I guess I should have known this one was too good to be true. Reviews for the seller are high, so I assume they have unwittingly gotten bad or spoofed merchandise.

Works in my case if it is powered
It didn’t work at first and after reviewing these reviews I panicked a little. :) my use case is likely specific but sharing incase it is helpfuliPad Pro (Gen 2) (lighting port)Connecting this adapter between the ipad and HDMI out to a samsung monitor.I found this setup will not work, unless a power cable is attached to the lighting port (mext to hdmi port on adapter). Only then will it trigger the ipad to see the display adapter. When this happens a little icon will show in the top information bar of the ipad (where battery status is located). At that point, I was good. The resolution is slightly off but I am using it to have a larger display when making digital drawings in ProCreate. While I already knew what the outcome would be, I did test by attempting to watch Netflix running on the ipad, via this adapter on the monitor. It fails. Keep in mind, this would happen regardless of what adapter is used. The restriction is on the client side and has nothing to do with this adapter. Research the error message and app the message is presented bu for more Information.4 stars because requiring the power cord is a hassle.

Happy with quality and function, don't forget to power it...
We were happy with the adapter, and it worked as expected. The only challenge was initially understanding that the adapter required the Lightning Charging port to be powered so that the adapter would work correctly, just like the picture illustrates.

Easy to use but wasn't as good as advertised
After watching its eye-catching marketing, I had high expectations for the iPhone to HDMI adaptor I bought. Unfortunately, the reality was much less than I had anticipated. Even while it officially connected my iPhone to my TV, the image quality was far from ideal. The image lacked the expected crispness and was frequently pixelated. In addition, I occasionally noticed audio lag, which was annoying when streaming videos or playing games. This adapter seemed to be the ideal way to project the screen of my iPhone onto a bigger screen, however, it had performance issues that were disappointing. In addition, the adapter's build quality was subpar. The cable felt flimsy, and I couldn't shake off the feeling that it might not withstand frequent use. It's disappointing when a product fails to live up to the expectations set by its advertising, and this iPhone to HDMI adapter was a case in point. It serves its basic function, but it falls short in terms of delivering the quality and reliability that I had hoped for.

Melted on its own while stored in dry cool office drawer.
I purchased this device as a replacement of my older one. Turned out I needed not only this piece but a new projector as well so I was not able to use the product as I had to order a new projector. When I finally came around to ordering the new projector and received my projector, I realized this item was defective and possibly even unsafe. I found the item had melted, somehow onto a note pad which it sat on top of inside of an almost empty home office drawer. I tested it for functionality but it did not work. I imagine whatever melted inside must've also burned/melted.
