Safari Ltd. Chimera Figurine - Detailed 7" Plastic Model Figure - Mythical Hybrid Creature Play Toy for Boys, Girls & Kids Age 3+

Safari figures really tend to run hot & cold with me; some figures are sculpted beautifully, painted well and are cast in interesting poses, while others are just plain awful to behold, bland paint-jobs, boring poses and silly designs. Not so with their Chimera figure; everything about it screams exciting and entertaining.I particularly like the posture of the beast, as they have opted to not go the popular pose of the beast standing upright with the tail to support it (Though you can do this one too), arms forward, claws exposed... no, here we have the Chimera crouched low and leaning forward, hind quarters arched to leave the Serpent Tail in the 'attack position', while its three heads are all posed appropriately as what they are: the goat reared upward, looking defiant. The Lion, of course mouth agape, teeth bared and ready to rend its foe, while the Dragon head is curled up, ever watchful, and ready to strike quick as a lightning bolt.The body of the figure is nice, well-sculpted and powerful looking. The wings are designed to look like leathery dragon or bat wings, which is a nice departure from feathered pinions, and the tail - a poisonous serpent raising itself upward and making ready to bite.The sculpt is nice, its clean, with great detail, and a fine paint job. The figure itself is sturdy, and would be suitable for either decoration/diorama, or having the little ones play with him. This beast can take anything the kiddies can throw at him, (Though I would be wary of the wings breaking off is handled too roughly, this beast can come back snarling for more fantasy combat.A nice addition to any collection, or something fun for the kids, this one does it all. Two BIG thumbs up!

I had pretty high expectations from the reviews others posted and the detail in the photos but, I was not expecting to be blown away by Chimera and a couple other dragons I bought by safari Ltd. I will collect every one that they make, they're so detailed, just perfect. I LOVE the pieces they make. I would recommend this to anyone of any age considering I'm a 28 year old female and I love dragons/mythical creatures. Didn't know where to start my collection until now. Thank you for making such a beautiful product.

What is not to love when you have a 4 headed chimera? My 5 year old son loves dragons and snakes and this one happens to have both. It is made out of a material that has some give so my son likes to flap the wings although I think with too much rough play it may wear at at those flex points but I could be wrong because mine is intact.My son is fairly gentle to his toys. Not for the faint of heart. It is small but looks pretty scary.

My 7 year old loves figures, we have SO many. So we bought her this one knowing she would think it is cool, and we were so right, it is so cool! The face's have great detail and is made extremely well. She has a bucket full of her figures next to her bed and this one gets played with daily, she has said numerous times that this one by far is her favorite:) My 5 year old wants one now too!

This figure seems pretty durable but I'm not going to test it and snap the wings off. I wouldn't suggest it for younger children because it has several pointy things to hurt themselves with. It has a dragon, lion, and goat head. It has one hoofed foot, a dragon foot, and two lion feet. The tail is a snake and it has dragon wings. The creatures look fierce and I really enjoy drawing it :)

I bought this to use as décor for my "table" this last Halloween where I was a "fortune telling witch" for a friend's party. It is cool, well made, and of what I, a non-collector, think is good quality. I am pleased with the purchase!

There is a hole in the creatures right wing. I was going to take the product back when I viewed the companies promotional photos and sure enough there is the perforation . What gives? Is there a reason for the defect? Does the company make this item w/o the hole in the wing or is there a mythological reason, because it sure detracts from the figurine.

This is an awesome product. They detailed the chimera very well and it's made of pretty durable plastic so a few bumps and bruises won't completely ruin it. I like collecting fantasy and scifi models and this was a perfect addition to the collection and totally worth the $12 I got it for.
