Bag arrived slightly ripped with just 1 gram of contents spilled out, tapped shut the rips.CaCl smells like a chemical, so best to store it double bagged to prevent an odor.I used this CaCl to make a 32% saturated solution for cheese making. I add 1/4 tsp per 2 gallons of milk to help with curd formation.To make 32% CaCl saturated solution by weight, take 32 grams of CaCl and 68 grams (or 68 ml) of distilled or purified (non-chlorinated) water, slowly combine the two, it will produce an exothermic reaction that will heat up the water up to 70C, so be careful. The final solution should weigh 100 grams and contain 32% CaCl. I used https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078B6S9B2 TekSky 500G/0.01G Digital Kitchen Scale to get the granules measured by weight correctly. Recipe scales easily, just watchout for heat generation. To calculate a different liquid size, take desired weight and multiply by 0.32 to get CaCl weight, and multiply desired weight by 0.68 to get the water volume/weight. 1 gram of water = 1 ml of water.

I also bought this for canning. Do much cheaper than buying PickleCrisp. I live at high elevation, so longer processing times. This has worked great at keeping my fruit from turning to mush in the jars.

Needed Calcium Chloride for a Chemistry lab. Shipping was fast. I was doing an experiment measuring a precipitate. Measuring a small amount of Calcium Chloride, I observed the clumping after exposed to air for 24 hours. I measured the weight difference in grams after. My science kit for the college I go to was missing Calcium Chloride. This saved my project. 🙌

I use this for treating store bought milk before making cheese. Seems to do the job as I get good curd sets. There is some residue that never completely dissolves when I make a 30% (mass) solution. Not sure what it is, possibly some impurity. Whatever it is doesn't seem to be a problem. I just mix up a large batch in a mason jar and let the residue settle out to the bottom. Easy enough to draw the clear solution out with a syringe.

Works just as well as Ball's Pickle Crisp, at a fraction of the price. I have a small business and we make pickles, to keep my pickles from getting soggy I put 1/8th of a tsp in every pint jar and 1/4 tsp in every quart. I was buying the Pickle Crisp every month, but this bulk Calcium Chloride will last me the whole year. Sure beats forking over $5+ for a tiny little jar. This fills the Pickle Crisp jar to the brim at least twice. I will definitely be coming back for this product.I have had no issues with dissolving, it has always dissolved quickly in the brine.
