Just what I needed
Worked great. Instructions were pretty good but should say that after 10 on cycles you should end in the off position.

Worked for Saab 9-2x
The support staff on the website provided detailed instructions for programming this fob for my car. If you know what you are doing, it will take about 30 seconds. It took me about 5 minutes. The trick is to close your car door, then insert the key. I had to cycle the key between the on position and position 1 about 10 times in rapid succession before hearing the programming beep. Then you simply push the unlock button on thr remote.I was originally trying to cycle between the off position and the on position. That did not work. On my car the various key positions “off, 1, 2, on” are labeled. Off is basically the position where you can insert and remove the key. On is the 4th position where your electronics are engaged, but the starter has not engaged.

Works great.
My new (to me) '04 Legacy only came with one remote/key. Once again, Amazon to the rescue; was able to source this remote and oem key. I followed a tutorial on the 'Tube, and it was very easy to program this remote! I also took the new key to Lowe's and they cut it for free! Now I have 2 working remotes and 2 keys for my Legacy!

FOB finally worked, but intructions are questionable
For sure the price is praiseworthy, even if FOB is not as robust as OEM. A new OEM at the dealer is $104...and must be ordered/shipped. Not sure if dealer would charge to program, assume yes, and assume $$$. In any case, the instructions, which DO NOT come with the FOB, but are out on a third party website. They are not useless, but sorely lacking in details. Following them does not activate the fob to functionality. After REPEATED attempts, I did not get the feedback (horn honks) that it was progressing. In fact, after giving up, I found that whatever changes it made to the system, it included KILLING some part of the battery/electrical system, and the car WOULD NOT EVEN START orthe engine turn over!! Spent considerable time troubleshooting something that I KNEW wasn't faulty (cables, fuses...)Sorry I had even tried, and was going to return fob.Out of total frustration (a few days later), I re-attempted the steps and the ON/OFF cycling of the key in the ignition again:I am not able to prove it through a REDO, since it now works. BUT, what I think I "accidentally" discovered is that ALL the places that have fob programming instructions (including YouTube videos, Subaru blogs, Subaru parts websites) are "misguided". They all have you put the key in the ignition, (plus doing other prep steps), then tell you cycle the key. PROBLEM: When you put the key in, it is in the LOCK/OFF position. The instruction to quickly cycle it at least 10 times BACK to the OFF position doesn't work!! However, when I cycled it from that initial LOCK/OFF position to the ON position and then ONLY back to the ACC position, I suddenly heard the horn honk (once). Opened/closed driver door, hit fob button, and heard the 2 horn honks. Removed the key from ignition....and heard the 3 horn honks. Waited, and the car started right up. The lock/unlock buttons on the fob seem to work now. This seems like a minoroversight (hint?), but it was the difference between it working and returning the fob to Amazon. So unnecessary.I am a detail oriented female. Found the lack of "detail" on all these sights very disappointing.

Perfect Replacement
The new fob was easy to program and works great. I did have to watch a video to determine the correct positioning of the key to cycle the ignition on and off.
