HondaHRX217 Series Tune-Up Kit (Serial Range MAGA-1000001 to MAGA-2199999)

Great kit reasonably priced for the convenience of your mower's first yearly maintenance. Here's some tips I learned the hard way. Before doing the maintenance run the tank dry to reduce issues with leaking fuel. You need to literally turn the mower upside down to drain the oil, and on it's side to change the blades, so if you don't run it dry, fuel will leak out through the carburetor soaking the filter, ruining it. Next time I do it I'm going to remove the old filter and stuff the compartment with part of an old t-shirt to absorb any fuel that makes it's way out. This kit is convenient, because you can switch the blades out and not worry about sharpening them right away. You always have an extra set.Steps in order:1 run dry2 remove old filter & stuff filter compartment with disposable rag3 drain oil4 remove blades5 remove caked on grass from underside and all nooks and crannies6 spray underside with WD-40 to help keep grass from sticking7 install new blades8 fill oil (do not over fill)9 install new filter into a dry air filter compartment10 replace spark plug (a half circle turn past finger tight is a good torque for most spark plugs, seating the crush washer nicely. You can also loosen the old spark plug and re-tighten it to the same position to get a good feel for how tight the new one should be)When I soaked my new filter I washed it with soapy water and let it dry thoroughly, but it was still ruined because when I ran the mower it would bog down and the RPMs would go up and down. This was due to restricted air flow, because when I removed the air filter it ran perfectly, so I just had to buy a new filter.Overall an the kit is a perfect fit.

I did a quick tune up on my mower today with the Honda tune up kit. Changing everything took less then 20 minutes. Everything that was included in box fit perfectly on the mower. Blades were super easy to change and mower is ready for it’s next job!!

Honda HRX217 Series Tune-Up Kit (Serial Range MAGA-1000001 to MAGA-2199999). Great tune up kit. Affordable worked good. I had purchased the hrx217 a few years ago. The blade was dull, and I hade hit something in the yard. I intended on removing the old blade and sharpening it. Then the Lord Jesus prompted me. Why don’t you check there internet. I started a search and I found this kit on Amazon. Thank you for an affordable kit that addressed the main areas of need.

The lawn mower now purrs like a kitten and these regular maintenance items were probably long over due. Will be buying this package again the next time my Honda mower starts feeling sluggish.

As expected, runs smoother with new spark, plug and air cleaner, the engine last longers when you change the oil and and great blade, cuts better. This way I can have a blade off to go get sharpened while the other one is on the mower. Just make sure you have the right model number. This set came from the Mower Shop via Amazon.
