Q: will these work on 1 3/4 thick doors?

You will need to purchase longer screws. I just installed these handles on a 1.5" door, and due to the spacers, I purchased 3" screws. One word of caution, these handles require metric screws. Otherwise, this is a great product.

Q: Any advice on installation on 20 gauge steel exterior door? Lock guy concerned about denting door during installation.

The installation is very straight forward. I don’t think you will be able to tight the hardware soooo hard at the point of dent a door without snaps the handle hardware.

Q: If I want to do a one sided instillation do I need to drill completely through my door (and out of the other side) or can I do a recessed instillation

You have to drill completely through out the door.

Q: Bought this in September. One of the handles is very loose at the connectors and wablbles on the door. Any way to fix this?

There is a long SUS hexagon socket head cap screw connecting the handle grip and the mounting outstanding. So just use a matching hex screw wrench, then it can be tightened.
